Default Should I get one.....

The X is hot. I am going for #3. I think I have my '01 sold, which will put me in the driver's seat of the new X. My '02 Baja is also for sale, but I planned on keeping whichever didn't sell. But, I think I will sell it too. I really couldn't decide between my trick '01 or the '02 Baja, but the X is so clearly superior to both I don't see any reason to keep the Baja now.

I almost bought a Predator, I like it a lot, but, it doesn't have the big cadillac appeal of the DS. I like the low center of gravity and the low first gear of the Predator, but it doesn't weigh much less than the X and it doesn't have the overall pizzaz.

Screw the new YFZ or Honda. I don't want an MX thrasher, I like a big desert sled, and the X has taken that to a new level.

THe only remaining question is the possibility of a new 440 Z Suzuki. I'll know that one in two days at the Dealer show in Vegas....

If you're 6'6", the DS is the quad for you. Not since the Quadzilla has there been an appropriately large quad for the above-average crowd. I'm just over 6'7" and about 275, even a Banshee feels a little small.
And on the subject of Banshees, my slightly modded DS is pretty much exactly as fast as my cousin's Banshee with Toomies (sp). I know he paid more for those pipes than I paid for my endcap...

Thanks for everyone's input.

I'm heading out this afternoon to take a real close look at the Baja X. I'll let you know what happens.

I just bought a new '03 DS and I love it. I am almost afraid to tell how much I gave for it, because few will believe me. I found mine at a dealer who is not carrying ATV's anymore, and I almost stole it. Apparently, Bombardier is not too friendly towards their dealers. Three dealerships close by are not carrying them anymore, but, three more have started. If you snoop around, you might come away very happy. I did. Also, does anyone have any factory Baja front bumpers or wheels that they would like to sell? The factory items Bombardier puts on the Baja look top notch. I just remembered, another dealer nearby has an '01 DS and an '02 Baja (both new) that are priced fairly decent. I am located in NC. I think he told me 5600 for the DS and 6000 for the Baja, but it has been awhile. Good luck with your purchase, if you buy a DS, you will not be disappointed.

I'm 6'2", 290lbs. The X kicks ****! I've been on the trails (and off) a few times and it hasn't been a problem. Get to know the riding area before burying the throttle. I sold my 91 Warrior in 94 and always wanted another bike. I've hit a couple of small/medium jumps and this thing lands like a Fleetwood Caddie. I can't comment on some of the other bikes out there, but I love my X.

Good Luck!

Well I bought the X. Just riding it around a little bit last night I believe that I made a good choice. It very comfortable and there seems to be plenty of power. I will probably go for a true test ride this weekend and have a better feel for what it can really do.

Thanks again for the input and advice.

Offroader777, I asked this in a different post but since your x is brand new to you,you may have a similar perspective to mine. Do you hear noise like valve train or internal gears at low RPM, not intake or exhaust noise. I imagine it's normal. In fact, as I sit typing this it hit me, the sound was like the straight cut gear whine you hear on Winston Cup cars when they're puttig around under caution. I can't remember if I was in neutral or slow in first gear. Thanks

Both of mine have that sound, I think that it is the cam chain going around the gears. I've never worried about it.
