If anyone wants to look at some pictures jumping a Bombardier, look at mine. I am with 2 friends one on a banshee and one on a 250r suzuki. The banshee and I jumped the same distance, about 12 feet off the ground and about 40 foot out on a sloping pond bank that has no water in it.

Can't really tell the height and distance from the photos, though, I can tell that you are up there from the angle, unless the shooter was laying on their back taking the pictures :-)

Looks good. How does it perform on landings, flight and take offs compared to the other two bikes? Manageable flight characteristics?

I have only gotten mine about three feet off the ground and gone about 15-20 feet in distance. I have only ridden a quad for about 5 hours and I am used to a 350X. The speeds that I was going would have put myself and my 350X about 6+ feet in the air and I would have gone about 30-40+ feet in distance. So, I am still getting used to the abilities of the DS.

Plus, I don't have medical insurance and I don't want to get hurt regardless, so I am slowly increasing how far I will go. I have had it tapped out as far as all out speed goes, though.

Let us know if you get more pics up!

Thanks,
CRT_Leech

Looks more like 2 feet off the ground and 10 feet out! I would think the frame would crack in 1/2 upon landing with all that weight (not you...the bike).

Pretty soon you'll be posting pictures of yourself jumping over houses like in the ATV Mags

Thanks for the compliments. All the pictures were taken with a digital camera at the bottom of the jump and early to mid flight. Mine were taken earlier in flight than the Banshee and the Suzuki 250R.

The other two with me said my flight and landings looked awesome, good height, distance and rake when in the air. I jumped the banshee and it is SCARY to me, but it does do well. The 250R I will not get on for reasons that the frame is broke and he continued to ride. My friend who rides the banshee loves the suspension of the DS650 he said it is a plush landing to him. Usually we are going about 25-30 mph when hitting the jump so, it is a fairly fast jump.

I have been very very timid on the DS, I have only recently begun to stretch the jumps out as my abilities get better on it. There is a certain level of trust you must have for the DS so you can go further. Take baby steps not Full grown tumbles.

As for the machine's landings, I have landed hard enough to almost throw me off the bike. There is no stress in the frame anywhere. I weight 240 and the bike was built for jumping. It is not going to break, and if it does, it goes back to the dealer.

If you have not ridden or seen a DS, please do not comment. I do not tell people, how xyz atv sucks because I have not ridden it, I comment on my experiences of riding and racing. My top picks for a quad to own would be Bombarider DS650, Banshee, 400EX, (get the point fast and sporty) Possibly even the new Yamaha.........We will see.

James, dont think it is indestructable. Saturday a couple of my friends went to a local track they had heard of. Though it was built for dirt bikes they let quads on also. I stopped by to see what it was like and as I watched my friend riding after about 60 minuits he came back into the pit area and had bent his upper a-arms jumping.

The jumps were steep and fairly high. Every once in a while he would bottom out. Were talking about 4-6 feet of air at the most. Not enough to put the mighty DS down in our opinion.

The fact that the a-arms bent wasent as surprising as when he took it to the dealer to see if they were going to cover it. When the dealer called the company not only did they cover it they were vary interested in them and wanted them shipped out as soon as possable today. Might keep an eye on that.

That is interesting, considering I have seen pictures of the DS with about ten feet of air underneath it and have not heard of any problems with bent or broken parts.

The DS may be a little heavier than some of the other quads, but it is made from larger diameter tubing with thicker walls. I would think that that instance was a fluke and I can see why Bombardier would be interested in them.

What section was bent? How many jumps did it take?

I have only been able to compress the suspension about half way and that is with about 3-4 feet of air underneath me and I am close to 280#.

How heavy was this other rider? I find it hard to beleive that the suspension (a-arms) would all of a sudden give out with only another couple of feet of air.

I have cleared up to 8 feet on my 350X in the past, and the only thing I did was crack the frame by the rear shock resevoir and I know that the DS is much stronger than the 350X. It also dozens of jumps to even do this little amount of damage.

I have been contacted by someone from RydeFX shocks asking how my front shocks have held up. Has anyone else been contacted by them?

I will let you all know if I gleam some usefull information on the setup for the front shocks. He test rode the prototype for many hours and said that the only things he was able to hurt was himself :-)

Cool, thanks for the info.

It's nice to see people post useful information, especially ones that have actually ridden the DS!

Keep me updated on your flying lessons.

I did see something that I won't try with my DS, water skipping. There was a Banshee rider this last weekend crossing the pool of water at Sand Lake, about 100 feet across and 4 feet deep. I guess that is (the) one thing you can do with a Banshee that will probably be better than the DS.

I also saw something I wouldn't do with an airplane and that is buzzing the ATV riders at the sand dunes. This plane actually dived lower than the crest of the dune and got to within 20-30 feet of the ground when he came out of the large bowl where the guy was water skipping. It's not the coolest thing in the world to be standing there watching the water boy and look over at the sound of an approaching airplane and seeing that it is heading right for you and is at the same altitude that you are! I only wish I had gotten a picture of his side numbers.

Yup, that's the one. It's good to see after sales support and interest like this.

How many Honda/Yamaha/Kawasaki owners out there have been contacted by the manufacturers to see how their equipment is holding up and if they have any ideas for improvements?

Probably none or very little, and that may only be after complaints.
