Default Remember how I was gonna get a Raptor..... This is how it went..

When I saw this Raptor at the near by Yamaha dealer (which is also my Bomb dealer) I really wanted it! It was a 2003 LE Raptor that has about 3 tanks of gas run through it. So I asked "Joe" the dealer how much he wanted for it. He says "I'll make you a hell of a deal, $4500." I figured wow I gotta get this thing. He said to bring my DS in for trade.......... He didn't know I had bent the valves so I said I'll be in sometime soon.... Keep in mind this was last week.

TODAY, after I got my DS650 all put together from my bent valves, I went through everything to make sure it worked right and all that stuff. After that I took it too a car wash to get it nice and clean for trade it. So today my Dad and I brought it in to have "Joe" look at it and give me a price on what he'll give me for it. My Dad and I were hoping he would give me about $3000 for it because it's dam well worth it! To make a long story short "Joe" comes out to look at it. I start it up for him and he checks everything out. there is NOTHING wrong with it and he said so himself. So we go back inside and "Joe" does some figuring and writing down numbers. I sat there 10min while he does his "figuring"..... He comes back out of his office and tosses a pad of paper down on the counter in front of me..... I'm looking at this piece of paper and I was TOTALLY speachless....... First of all, the pr!ck jacks the price of the Raptor up to $4750 but this is the best part.... He had the ***** to offer me only $2000 for my DS650!!!!! I wanted to laugh at him because this was a total INSULT!! He was completely serious and he wasn't giving me a penny more for my DS. In other words I gotta give him my DS650 and $2750 for this Raptor...... I gave him a dirty look, grabbed the piece of paper, and I said like a totall smart a$$, "I'll see what the bank says" and walked out!!

Because of this I WILL NEVER walk into "Antigo Yamaha" ever again!! I gave these people LOTS of my business and from now on I'm gonna go 60 miles farther to the next Bombardier dealer instead of going to this CROOK!! I'm just pissed off that this guy would do this bull$hit to me when I've been going to this place for parts and quads ever since I was old enough to even ride!

Needless to say, I will be keeping my DS650 for a while untill I find out more about the YFZ450's.... Yes I know I said I will never buy a first year quad again BUT I wanna wait a little while yet to see if there are any bugs to be worked out on these quads. I haven't heard of any YET and if I don't hear of anything in the next couple months I am gonna look for a SLIGHTLY used 450, like this Raptor I was talking about.....

WHAT A DAY!

You really don't like Raptors do ya? lol, I see where you're comming from though. I'm gonna be looking into the 450 anyway..... On the other hand, not too much more can go wrong with my DS..... I replaced about everything on it once!!

pushing- that was a joke but that is how business runs. Had you traded your DS in, i bet next week it would be on the lot for 4995.00. The salesman would claim only had 2 tanks ran thru it.

Sell the quad through the paper then you have bargin room with the dealer on a new quad.

You are exactly right, this same guy just sold a DS650 EXACTLY like mine to my friend for $3600! In fact the plastic, and stock pipe on MY DS was from this DS he sold to my friend...... Which kinda makes me mad since I thought I was gonna be trading mine in so I helped my friend out a little by giving my black plastic for his yellow plastic and my White brothers pipe for the stock pipe.... Oh well, the yellow plastic looks better than my old black ones, but I gotta find a pipe now.

Sorry things didn't work out for you but he wasn't trying to rip you off, it's just how the business is. When you trade in you'll only get about 2/3 of the value of your machine....this works the same with cars. You're ALWAYS better off selling yourself and then taking the cash with you to make the deal. Thats how the dealers make their money.....they give you crap for a trade in and resell it at a premium price. As always it was only driven by an old lady to get groceries.

Those are skills you'll need to have (standing your ground) when it comes to making other buying decisions later in life. When I purchased my latest Ford, they did that same exact thing, except that the piece of paper was correct (which I kept) - it was the contract that was messed up! Long story short, I started to walk out after they refused to change it, and then all three of them blocked my way out - I told them, in a very nice tone, they they had better move aside or I (well you get the picture). I insisted we renegotiate the whole deal or I was walking. They said no. I then pulled out the spare ( which they took my original) and flashed in in front of his face, got in my truck and started it up. They relented ..... Saved $5,000 off what we originally agreed on in the first place. Thomason Ford in Portland - thank you!
