I feel confident enough to do it ( I've done my 390 Ford heads and 2.0 VW head and intake ), but will anything be gained, or lost, if I still keep the stock carb? All I plan on for now is a different endcap and some vents in the airbox, and a K&N powerkit, so should I even bother? I want people to think its fresh from the factory, 'cept a little louder......Although it would by no means be considered a sleeper Thanks...

Yes, there are gains to be had. I had Mr. HP port mine since I have no knowledge nor tools for doing that sort of work - he achieved a 4 HP gain by porting the intake for the 46HV and using it on the stock carburetor. I would assume if you are any good at porting you should see similar gains. I know that If *I* tried to port my intake I'd end up with a quad that wouldn't run. However, if my PC is acting up, I can throw down a whoopin on that machine so fast it'll have no choice but to sit up and listen then do what it is told!

I just did mine, B4 I took it off I looked in it and saw that its not completly lined up, second there are casting flaws in it. Little bubble type things sticking up. also the motor side had some machining groves into the intake. I cleaned it all up opend it up from 41.6mm to 47mm and drilled the bolt holes 1 size larger so I could move the intake to line up with the ports. granit I put a 45mm mikuni on and not the stocker, but there is some room for improvment in this intake manifold.
