I believe the screw you are talking about is a fuel adjustment screw, I have pics of the the carb on my site. The screw should adjust idle and off idle air/fuel ratio. I found that adjustment of that screw helped remove any hesitation from when you go from idle to WOT.

Just to clarify, the Idle screw adjust the speed of the idle. the Air/fuel screw adjust the air/fuel ratio at idle and just above idle.
Did you by this carb for Mr. HP? If you did you probably paid the premium price like the rest of us, but the price includes great technical support. so give him a call!

Any time the air/fuel screw has NO effect on the idle of any carb, then the mixture is too far off somewhere else. On a Mik, that would be the pilot jet. On a Lectron it's on the up/down adjustment of the needle. Simply lean it out 1/2 turn at a time until the idle stops hunting.
