Default ride review with lectron

i had my first ride tonight with the lectron. first impression is very nice. instant throttle responce. gobbs of torque. i think it still need to be dialed in slightly but in current state quite impressive. now that i am starting to get the hang of the lectron it seems to be quite easy to tune. as far as the throttle suck, if im stoped with the engine running its not bad at all. barley noticable. but where i really notice it is comming off the throttle the getting back in to it while your moving. its definatly a little stiff in the tight and technicle. but i think with a little more tunning i will be able to make it almost non noticeable. i may be a little rich at the moment, my egt only makes it to 1150-1200 at any time while riding. with everything in this engine package that horsepower research put togeather for me i am very impressed. definatly a great company to deal with. all questions are answered, phone calls are returned promptly, and they deliver what they say they will.

Thats good news.

Eric has been above and beyond the norm with my rebuild. It is DONE. The motor will make its first run this Friday at Silver Lakes Sand Dunes. This is larger valves and seats, complete porting, lectron 48, 14:1 piston, shim under buckets, and his latest and greatest cams. A few other goodies to go along with it. I can say the throttle snap is instant and abrupt. If anyone happens to get out there this weekend, just look for a purpel framed and polished yellow DS. It should stand out. I will be tuning it thru the weekend with by dragging.

Hey Saint my question about the carb, does it give more bottom?

I'm going to get one soon. I can't wait to get mine. I hear nothing but good things about it. Does it tend to rev up a bit when you let off the gas? That is a problem I'm having with my 44. Also If you call Fast By Gast for like 6 bucks they have a softer spring for it. You may want to try that. Good luck with your new purchase. As soon as I get mine (hopefully within 2 weeks) I will post my .2¢

DStroyer

I would love to see it. I'm going to redo my 720 kit with Eric's and let's see where it stands. I'm going to start with the 46, get the 14:1 and bore and down the road larger valves. The larger valves with him is kind of pricey but the man does good work. I have dealt with him in the past and he is defintely a man of his word.

I have read alot of your post about TVI and your 720, it seems such a waste if you were to just trash it all and start over. Hopefully the 46hv when properly tuned to your current 720 you will see the power you expect. Eric's big bore vs. TVI big bore should be very close in power range if all else is equal. 105.5 bore is 105.5 bore no matter if its a steel sleeve or nikisil coated! Piston and head maybe the big factor here. I have read that your piston does not come close to the top of the cylinder, some say that it may be a low compression piston, did you want to run race gas or pump gas? Eric's race head is pricey but still cheaper then RWR. When I talked to Eric about doing my race head,he mentioned that price may very depending on valve size.

Erics pricing does appear high when compared to the product out there now. BUT, I can honestly say, it is worth every penny. The amount of work done to the head is unbelievable. This isnt a basic port and valve job. When I opened the package, my first reaction was WOW. The intake is completely rechambered, the bowl area has very extensive work done to it, and the exhaust ports couldnt be any better. This is just my opinion. He matched the porting to the intake manifold exactly. When I say exactly, I mean it is flawless. The same goes for the exhaust ports. The valves are perfectly seated, and I have plenty of clearance over his 14:1 piston. Im very excited to get out in the dunes with this thing. The only riding Ive done is in my parking lot to try to get the jetting closer before I hit the sand. The sand is the true test.

That's it.. I'm saving my pennies... maybe in August I can send him my head. I might head out to Silver Lake for my annual go. DStroyer maybe we can meet? I took some gorgeous photos last year and i'm getting a new 8.0 Megapixel camera from Sony which looks like a total professional camera. Maybe we can rally a few DSers out there and post more about MRHP's work. I know I'll be sending him my cylinder to fit his 14:1 piston. Not sure I can do the larger valves but I got a blood thirsty Stage III friend that I'd like you to meet.

Sure thing,

We get to silver lake usually 3 times a year. Living in southern wisconsin, the riding here is very limited. The machine Ive built will never see dirt again, exept for dirt drags that is. Maybe we could get our own little upper midwest, eastcoast DS days going.
