did i misunderstand the whole thing i thought someone bought a mod quad end cap and wanted mrhp to tell them how to jet it. that is what i thought to be odd. and like jetsnow said maybe you shouldn't be changing the stuff if you haven't learned how to jet to that point yet, i can't imagine it changing more than 2 jet sizes.

SANDMAN430 you are correct about the thread regarding a forum member asking jetting question on MrHP end cap to MrHP while being high bidder for a auction for brand "X" end cap that has been posted simular in diameter. Why not ask the manufacture for the jetting of the end cap? I'm sure they give stock jetting thats out there, can they give modded motors the correct jetting? I hope so.

How different can you make an end cap? It is a peice of metal with a hole in the middle. Not much room for innovation. (Quote) I bought a couple of books a little while back mainly on fluid dynamics , and also on mechanical engineering. From what I have read, and also from mrhp's exp not much of a change can make a big difference. As far as making it different, just flip through any streetbike magazine and look for yourself. The brand Blue Flame makes some cool stuff. As far as jetting altitude difference in massachusetts, and florida would mean a higher oxygen consentration
where you live versus the higher altitude of where rykid lives thus mrhp reccomendation for stock jets.
As much time on the phone as eric has spent w/ me nagging he should probably charge me double on anything he sells me

You get what you pay for, If I was unable to figure out jetting then the Mrhp would be the way to go. Sometimes if you are on a budget and able to think for yourself then a " Knock-off " is the best choice. Do not blast someone because he found a bargain, 1/4 of my DS is used parts from various people I saved a bundle but got no customer service.

jetsnow600,

I would be very interested in purchasing billet end cap blanks from you for $20 each.

I would also like to borrow your CNC machine and your two minute programming.

Competition=lower prices but better products come the hard way through research and development! ModQuad is riding my coat tails on the end cap no doubt, maybe I will stop R&D and let someone else do all the hard work for a while.

I agree with MRHP, and i am glad he got a chance to reply.

I Buy my DS oil from Walmart, but not walmart brand oil. I run castrol GTX and shopped around to get the best price. We all want to have fun and have it for cheep. The ds is not one of the cheeper quads, but is one of the more fun ones in my opinion. most parts for it are more costly then other quads parts. That sucks, so im all for limmiting that extra cost in an effort to have more fun on a quad thats more fun to ride. Everyone is for shopping around, unless its a situation like the lectron 46HV carb. You either get it from mrHP, or you try to jet it yourself. You may get it close, but probabbly not as close as his resurch did. Difference is he can protect that resurch, and force me to by from him. Which i intend to do some day. But its hard to protect the stock jet sizes that work best.

While i didnt get a MRHP endcap, i didnt buy brand x either. I made my own, not very simmilar in design at all to his, or brand X, other then theres an open hole in the end and no spark screen. However I did get the idea from seeing post refering to the MRHP cap. From my Home built cap, I wasnt expecting the same preformance, looks or sound levels as there endcaps. I figured it would have more HP then the stock unit, and i had a means to make it from scraps on my own. So i saved $75 or whatever there going for.

I never asked for help with jetting from anyone on it, but do read post reguarding it as i like to learn things that way. Ill take a short cut if it looks good, and sometimes end up getting bit in the a$$ for it..

My home made endcap was cheep for me, and i have fun ridding faster now. I have listened to MRHP endcap on a DS and it apeared to be louder, but definatly sounded tougher then my makeshift endcap. I would garantee that the MRHP endcap would make more power then my endcap, but thats fine with me, and thats the price you pay.

Having made my own, I figure im $75.00 bucks closer to purchasing a MRHP 46HV carb now.(now that my shocks are paid for) At which time i will ask him to jet the carb i buy from him, making mention of my open endcap he didnt make. I cant expect him to tune it spot on that way, but thats the price ill pay... Hopefull thats just fine with him, as id be purchasing the carb from him, and really dont want to mess with jetting much anymore.

I think its great that we have choices. Sometimes you pay for your choices. trying to get jetting help for a problem caused by what some would call a bad choice, without paying for it... Id say he was sortof asking for a second opinion. Nothing wrong with that. If it bothers you, thats your opinion.

Now the fact that someone asked brand A's opinion about setup when planned to buy brand B's product? Im not sure theres anything right or wrong with that. However it does suck for MRHP. But he still offers really good products, some of wich you can only get through him. Were all trying to get ahead in life and have fun and feel good about doing it.

Any Help MRHP may have gave in this situation may lead to purchases form MRHP in the future due to his continuing costomer service and help with his customers.

If brand x doesnt offer tech support on a product that needs it, I think that will hurt brand x in the long run, and customers will all go back to MRHP for his services and expierance.

competion is a good thing on a drag strip, when you come to me and want to know how to frame a house i'm not going to tell you what has come to me throw experience, and even finacial lose. eric is a great person, probably would tell you how to jet someone elses end cap. all the stuff about open competion though is junk, how is it even with the use of the other guys knowledge. and to be honest any info eric could give over the phone is just a ball park that is close, elevation temp all effect jetting. but maybe this explains why numbers might be taken off the parts that people have been questioning. well there are always deals and sometimes they work super some, times you buy things and you wonder if it was worth you time. the end cap isn't the big deal, its the fact of using people. one thing that has not been said is what does the market do when the mom and pop shops go out of business the big guys can do as they please or do nothing at all. even competion is good the black market isn't good. and i've never checked but how much money do you save on oil at wal-mart, the reason being i might need a starter someday and i'd like the local auto parts guy to be there when i need him. it's those nickels or even extra dollar you might spend to help the community. sorry i got a visit from OSHA, i'm not very happy right now.
