CURRENTLY I BOUGHT A 2003 DS650 BAJA THAT HAD THE STAGE 1 WOODS KIT. MY BROTHER BOUGHT AN 04 BAJA X AND PUT A TRINITY PIPE TM45 AND 11.5 PISTON ALONG WITH A VORTEX CDI. A WEEK AGO I PUT WOODS STAGE 2 IN. SO THE OTHER DAY WE RACED AND I CAN JUST STAY AHEAD OF HIM. ANY IDEAS?????????

Wood's Stage 2 = Cams and Piston + misc.

The cams and piston are probably a large part of the gain in speed so, his cams and piston vs. your RW Stage 2 (cams & piston) I wouldn't expect too much more.

You can pick up a few HP with spot on jetting. Correct tires and gearing will also help. But, about the only way you should expect to beat him throughout the race is with further mods. You guys are really too equal as it stands right now. At least you are winning. Go any further on the mods and the races won't be fun anymore. They are only fun if you are in the same ballpark.

The 04 is probably a little faster out of the box than the 03. Something to consider.

there is also a weight difference, but if you want to beat him at this point try a gearing change off the line the lower gearing will help a lot, just stop before he gets up to top speed

Did you put the stiffer clutch springs in? After my stage II I smoked my clutch first weekend out. Put new clutch and springs in and haven't had a problem in a year. I have also went to the big bore kit with no problems.
