AHHH! that new ATV smell!
Oz,
I had thought about a Mr HP end cap as well, but did not like the idea of cowboying up some sort of soup strainer as a "spark arrester" either. The HMF exhuast includes a USFS approved spark arrester that you will need if you ride on national forest service land, or if you race your DS is sanctioned cross country events. And I actually have had ATVs checked for spark arrestors by Park Rangers while camped in a campground, and I have had to pass tech inspection prior to desert races, and I watched them check for a spark arrestor both places.

I got the HMF at actionoffroad.com, and you do not need the quiet core (in my opinion). When I am trail riding I like an exhaust that I can hear easily, even with a helmet on. My son has an HMF full system on his YFZ, and I have an HMF slip on on my DS, and it is nice to be able to hear my son when he comes up behind me, without having to wonder where he is at. If I hear what sounds like a pass attempt I can be sure to give him a little extra room. He gets a little too aggressive at times, and bumping tires is no fun. The same goes for him, he likes to be able to hear my bike when he is in the lead, and I get a wild hare up my butt and try to pass him.
