Default Traxter won't shift out of reverse

Traxter won't shift out of reverse or forward while the engine is running. Shifting lever works ok when the engine is off. It will go from park to reverse but after that I can't get it to move. If I start it in forward ( I don't know if it should do that) I can't move the shifter out of forward. Any idea what's going on here?

I'm not at all familiar with Traxter's, but my wife's Outlander had similar symptoms. The transmission linkage turned out to be out of adjustment....

Hi runkeldc,

check the idle speed first. If it is too high the clutch will not seperate so you have problems shifting the Reverse/H/L gear. You may adjust idle speed at the left side underneath the carburator. I hope this will help.#
