Default DS won't start. I think it's the carb ??

I tried to start my DS after it sat for almost a month, it stalled after 20-30 seconds and failed to restart. I took out the plugs and they were pretty black and nasty most likely fouled. I put in two new plugs and it ran for 10-15 seconds, then died and failed to start, I can smell gas so I don't think it's lack of fuel. I assume it's getting way too much gas through the carb, I worked on two stroke dirt bike carbs but not my DS, anything simple I should look for ??? Maybe something stuck or gummed up ?? DS is all stock and has ran great all summer up to now. Thanks.

justa shot in the dark here but get some fresh fuel and dump what you have in your tank out. Re-fill the tank and carb with fresh new fuel.
If theres any gummed up surfaces/ needle seats / or what not , the good gas will help break thatd down and keep thinks flowing.

Im not saying thats the problem but it sure will eliminate any question to the fuel being bad right?
