Let's hear about the DS650 now . . .

As for the Bombardier DS650. I like what
the manufacturers are coming up with now
days for the Sport quad world. Hopefully
Honda will come up with their 600Ex and
Yamaha will come up with a Banshee 400cc with improved suspension. I have a '98
300ex that is slightly modified and must
say that after riding it for a year and a half I'm giving it to the wife. It's a good machine but I need more power. Will it be
the Bombardiers, Banshee or the new 600ex?
My guess is on the bombardier or the Banshee.
Honda better get off of their but and get
something out that wails more than 27 horesepower like the 400. Yes, I have ridden
the 400ex. But a 653cc Bombardier, Watch out. It will be a beast. Let's hope it handles good. For 7,000 it's gonna be worth
the money. I'm going to look at one in November.

I want the 650 DS, but i am afraid it may another Husaberg disappearing act. I hear production has been cut in half. Half of what?? None so far? I'm not gonna wait much longer. DS 650 or Banshee. See what happens bout March...

Them doubting themselves...leaves the customers with no choice but to doubt them.
Let's just say the DS-650 will be a beast in the dunes. In the trails, motocross, well...400EX owners better hango on to their machines, it will still top all new quads in that category.
People have to remember, just because the engine size is bigger, that doesn't necessarily mean it's better. This would apply to certain situations.

Im not sure of what situation that might be. Im of the school of thought that you can never have too much power.. Maybe thats why I have a 500 cubic inch Six-pak stroker motor! Power Baby...

ps. I do see your point about bigger engines. The 400Ex is bigger, but the smaller Banshee 350 will whoop it all day.

I mean like in the woods. Even racing XC. You're not hitting max the whole time, so power wouldn't be much of a factor in that situation. The 400EX is probably the best ATV being produced for woods racing. That would be a combination of things. Then it wouldn't be so much about how fast you CAN go, but more about your accelleration and consistancy. Power may put you in the front of the pack if you have the right amount of straights, but I have a feeling many other ATVers don't ride in a straight line all the time. Handles, accelleration, suspension is what will probably matter in the woods. Not your MAX. That's what I'm saying. It's true, you can never have too much power, and more only means better, but when you compare ATVs, you have to consider the fact that the most CCs doesn't automatically make the best machine.

But since the utility is the biggest market, thats where all the updates go. I hope the 650cc bomb blows changes sport quads as we know them. Competition breed perfection, so if the bomb destroys the 400ex and the banshee in the dunes and the drags we will probably see a new sport quad from others soon to follow. When will polaris stick one of those highly modified sled motors into a lightweight frame and change everyones mindset about sport atv's.

Boy have the times changed. The utility market?
Btw, this Bom forum used to sound like the Yamaha forum. Did you know that forums could grow corporately? In 7 years the guys from the yamaha forums will be in their 20's and starting to share some good info and friendships and we are going to be bragging about our utility quads and about where we plan to retire!
