Default I Need Help--Bombardier Transmission Problem

I've just bought a Bombardier Traxter XL 500 5 Speed (the one with the bed on the back), and I'm having a problem with it. The transmission lever frequently becomes stuck in position, and will not move. I always depress the foot brake lever, and I've tried rocking the vehicle back and forth, as recommended in the manual--but it dosen't work. The only thing that does work is to shut down the engine completely, shift from where I am to R, P, N, H, L, etc., and then restart the engine. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how difficult will this be to fix? Can anyone shed some light on this, or offer some advice? I don't have a lot of experience with ATV's, so maybe I'm just missing something, or being a moron--I don't know.

My Traxter XT did the same thing. Turned out the idle rpm was set too high. Not a big deal.
