I would think the 8 paddle Scat Trak "Edges" would be a good tire. I have not ridden a DS yet, but with a 4 stroke, I imagiane your not getting "too" much spin outta the hole. The edges are fairly tall, and with the "V" shape, they will maintain or better your current handling prowess in the sand.

Keep us all FUTURE DS owners updated..

I would think you would want 10 paddle haulers. Thats what is recommended for a quadzilla, and it is a similar machine.

My buddy put sand skate2's on today for the first time, he feel's they aren't getting all the power to the sand. Has any one tried a staight paddle like the haulers, or taller haulers?

I'm looking to buy some sand tires for my DS also, the stock tires are the worst for deep soft sand. Any more Suggestions? Will a second set of aftermarket rims fit the stock hubs on the DS650? I will be swapping tires & rims as needed.

Nonen of the company's I called don't have wheels out yet, they expect to be able to order them in 3-4 weeks. I'm holding up till I can get tires and wheels myself. My friend used a die grinder to hog the inside of his 10" wheels and drilled the bigger bolt patern on to make them fit his ds. He's running sand skateII's. They are great for playing, and drag well, If your more into dragging I believe you may get a little better hookup from straight paddles.

I'm leaning heavily towards 10" wheels with hauler type tires, 10 paddles. The DS650 can rev kinda like a 2-stroke, so what is good for a banshee is prolly what is good for the DS. I'm wondering about the tire clearance with the rear fenders though.

Talked to Douglas wheels last week and they are working on getting 10x10 rear wheels. They told me that the stock front and rear wheel patent rights are owned by Bombardier and only Bombadier can sell the stock size Douglas wheels. They also said that they will have front wheels by late spring. I plan on running 8 paddle haulers . I will let you know how they work.

I can't emphasize enough the need for dune tires, both front and rear, for the DS650. Most of the riding areas near me have very sandy trails, although I don't live in the desert. With the stock tires the front end washes out when you go from shallow sand across a patch of deeper soft sand (I think I need a steering stabilizer to). This is particular scary when dragging at high speed. I am fighting to keep the steering stabilized. At time it can feel like you are "pushing sand" with the front tires - a guess the heavy front end could have something to do with it. The rear end looses most of it's torque in the sand with stock tires. When dragging down a sandy strip near the stream, I am continuously spinning the rear tires through 5th gear and cannot get over ~50-60 mph. In any gear if I gas it, the rear tires spin - lost torque. This makes it difficult to get the front end off the ground to handle the whoops better. Due to the DS650's wheel spin, just about ANY quad will beat me off the line. When I ride back down the drag area I see my long, continuous tire track that is all thrown sand, no tread visible. Sure hope those aftermarket wheels get here soon...

Question: Will dune tires get ruined instantly if you occasionally happen to cross over a hard pack dirt area or grass area or stone area? Some of the areas I ride at have both sandy trails as well as some harder pack dirt with some stones mixed in at times or on your way to the sandy areas.
