Default HMF pipe and rear wheel Dyno results for the Outy 800

I just got my HMF pipe and Dobeck power module for my Outy 800 last week. It has added 4 HP.

Here are our Dyno results (rear wheel testing only)

Stock was 45.11 HP and 71.22 lbs Torque

HMF & Module was 49.31 HP and 78.12 lbs of Torque

by comparison to my 800 bigbore twin peaks on the same day same rear dyno tires (car tires)
it had 48.80 HP and 71.24 lbs of Torque.
best run with twin peaks 800 in the past was a 50.26 HP and peak TQ @ 74.18 back in May.

At the sand drags the Twin Peaks has alway beat the Outy but never by more than 4 or so quad legths in a 200 yard run. With the new pipe and module they should be running pretty close next time.

The only thing about the TQ numbers I should mention is that as with allot of these quad dyno's they do not have duel probes to sence both cylenders on the V-twins so they told me they had just been taking the one reading X 2 for the TQ. Does that seem right to you guys. I think they may be showing a little to good. These motors are made for torque but, I kinda think there maybe so extra calculations needed to get a acurate number.

That is the factory crank HP rating not the rear wheel rating, there is about a 25-30% drop by the time the power goes through a auto/shaft drive powertrain.

your torque is reading double what it should be. Divide by 2.
Some prelim testing on the 800 shows it is capable of 20hp increase with relatively easy mods.

Torque off of only input data from 1 cylinder would not be right either. At least I don't see how deviding by 2 would be acurate. The dyno shop doubled what it was reading and that is the numbers they gave me and what I posted. If I devide the numbers above by 2 then I am back to the reading the dyno shop said they had doubled to account for the other cylinder.

Even if the results are not dead on, there still good results to compare the two machinces because the quads are both similar in setup (2 cyl, etc). You have a good bases for comparison between those two particualr quads. What would be interesting is to see where something like a Honda Rencon 650 or Rapter fell on their dyno as a comparison to your results. Your drag race results should confirm your reslults one way or the other, as you said it should now be real close, again assuming nothing else (tires, rider, altitude, etc) changes from your first go-around.

A lot of people hear the Outty 800 has 62 hp and automatically think it's a rear wheel hp rating, then they compare it to say a KQ which has a little over 30HP @ the rear wheels which makes everyone think it has double the HP when in reality it has about more 15 hp. I do find it hard to believe the Outty 800 has that much torque.
