Default Starter acting weird...

So i put my newly ported intake on yesterday and go to test it. When I hit the start button the starter spins but doesn't engage. It did this before when my battery was low. So I changed the battery a few months back and it has been fine til yesterday. So I try jump starting and that didn't work. Then I pushed it and popped the clutch, hit the start button and it fired right up. It did this one other time during the ride. It appears there is a dead spot and my question is what part is not working. Am I missing a tooth on the starter gear or is it the starter clutch or solenoid. How do I trouble shoot this?
Thanx in advance!

PS The ported intake made a big difference and I highly recommend it!

I don't have any good ideas, but maybe this will help keep your thread at the top. Besides, the more responses in your thread the more likely someone is to read it!

Are you 100% sure of your battery? Maybe it is a newer battery with a bad cell or something.

I am pretty sure on the battery as I had it jumped to another battery and it still did it.
