ds650 float height
Anybody know what the fuel level should be if you use the clear tube method for setting the float height? Having a heck of a time adjusting the float height. Also the tang doesnt seem to have enough range to drop the fuel level below about .2000" above the bowl mating line on the carb using the clear tube. Im not sure yet what the level should be but i cant even experiment yet because i cant get the level dropped any more than it already was.
It has problems with leaking fuel while parked with the pet **** turned on. The plunger looks good as new and everything seems to seal right , so i suspect the float height is too high.

after settign float height, if it still leaks, its best to replace the needle valve and seat and o-ring that goes around the seat becasue its common for o-ring to get scarred during removal. lube new or-ing before installing to prevent scarring during install. the rubber tip of the needle valve, as well as the brass seat, can have defects that you can hardly see, causing leaking even though it appears to be good.
also, the drain needle on the bottom of thebowl can be a source of leak - its just a needle that tightens against bowl surface, and if grit gets in there during draining, then the needle is tightened against it, it will pit the sealing surface and never seal again. the only sure fix is to rpelace the bowl itself.
