Default Gas Tank Venting

Well this is more of a brain storm post than anything. I was looking at the fuel venting system on my DS and have to say it sucks. I dont understand the four foot long hose that has to rap around the tank fo venting. I understand that it allows the fuel to flow into the carb because of preasure and it is nice to have the regular cap on the tank but come on.

Would it work to just cap the hose off and run a regular vent or a one way check valve. Has anyone tried it? I have searched and cant find any aftermakret caps for this thing with the regular vent

Just for everyones information the Predator gas cap does fit the Bomb so if you are looking that will work.

On-Dunes carries them, along with Mod Quad.

I'm running a TON of fuel through my bike with the stock system. There is NO issue with the stock cap or vent. Are you just missing a cap or need to get a new one for looks? Not really sure what the problem is, but like others have said, aftermarket caps are available. Careful on the aftermarket caps... the sealing washer tends to flop out when you take the cap off or put it on. It's not very snug.

clip the hose off to about 6' and let it hang down in between the tank and the cover, works for me.

We did the same as Scatterbrain when the exhaust melted the hose shut just cut it off short and it works fine now.
No problems and it has been over a year.

I run a vented aftermarket cap, and I cut the stock vent back as far as I could. I took it off and melted it closed... make sure you take it off if you are going to melt it... unless you like fireworks in your garage.
