"dumont 122 degrees"

C'mon Gregg, it's "dry" heat. I'm all for Dumont, and I'm all for Labor Day, even though it will be a little warm if held then. Not unbearable if you stay hydrated. I can bring five gallons of the Pie instead of two if need be. I don't want to see the families cut out if it's held later and I do understand the heat issues, but it's only in the low 100's, not 120's . I couldn't believe my ears when people at Little Sahara were saying it was hot.

Go Dumont, go Dumont, go Dumont, GO. All being said while swaying topless in a cute little grass skirt. Nah, don't even get a mental picture of that...

Unforntuanatly, I already got the mental picture, with Casey in the background singing La Coocharocha!! LMAO!!!

Um, too far for So Cal boys to drive to St Anns? Its only 2.5 hours from me, so how far do you think the drive to Glamis is for me? I will tell you, and i'm not trying to be facetious(spell?), nobody from Utah liked SM Nevada, none. It really isnt a fun place to just ride, very small, with one, yep I counted, one bowl. I do like the race hill though.

My vote is still for Oregon.

I might be able to make Dumont between Halloween and Turkey day........... Might have to pass up a couple hunts to do it, but what ya gonna do?

Hey Greg, did I mention how much I like my new NOBB!!!

The temp at 5:15pm local time was 94 degrees today at Dumont. At 11am or so, it was mid-80's. I know this is today only, and I dont have a history of it, but at least there's a chance it wont be too hot. I may attempt it as long as its on Labor Day. But, that vote isnt over yet, we still have 12 days left! Besides, you people running for the areas know where to post links back to here and get more votes. There are people that dont visit here that much, if I were you guys, I'd be on the phone and sending emails to your buddies. Just a thought ...... ... This includes you Bigdaddy - the vote count needs to be higher.

There is no local water, so you're gonna have to bring everything in. They do have pit toilets there, as most places do. It wouldnt be my personal first choice though. However, I may change that opinion once I go there. How's that for being unbiased! LOL

ODP, I know that DS days is traditionally on Labor Day, but if it's at Dumont, we should have it the 2nd weekend in Octorber or the First weekend in November. JMO

I voted

HE LIVES!!!! Well, Im just the pollster, I think its good you are talking about dates. So far, nobody has put thier foot down on Labor Day being the only date possible for DS Days. More info about what your plans are all I ask. Thank you. Anything more you can share like the others have?

Also wanted to tell everyone that I talked to the owner of the dealership on Friday and he's definitely interersted in getting involved. I told him that he might want to sponsor a big Sat. Night BBQ and a silent auction. He was very interested..... I've also talked to a local retailer/cycle shop and he's interested as well.

I think the following would be fun and pretty easy to plan.

Thursday - Camp Site Aquisition
Friday - Check-in (First 25 get a Free DS Days T-Shirt)
Friday Afternoon - Grudge Match Hill Climbing/Racing (Banshee Hill)
Friday Night - Meet and Greet at the Camp Fire
Saturday Morning - RollerCoaster Dune Ride
Saturday Mid Day - Competition Hill 4-stroke Drag Racing (Trophies )
Saturday Early Evening - Sponsors Dinner and Auction
Saturday Night - Comp Hill Drag if you Dare Night Climbs (Or just hang out by the fire and watch the other idiots - me included)
Saturday late Night - Bring your chair and enjoy the lies
Sunday Morning - Pot Luck Breakfast and last Dune Ride

Just some ideas that would be pretty easy to set up and run with little or no effort. Might even have a Weekend Long DS SWAP Meet.

Still think it should be later in the year... But that's just me. Don't kid yourself.... Dumont is very hot on Labor Day. Betting on a cool front is probably not the best idea.

Oregon would be great, I just wouldn't be up for the LONG A$$ drive. Oh' that would kill these 38in inseams!!!!

Jed, how does the 1st or 2nd week in November Grab ya? This would be a great time to hit Dumont and with temps in the high 70's to mid 80's... It might be just what the doctor ordered.

I'd like to bring up one thought - people are mentioning that DS Days should be held on a holiday weekend for timing reasons. (Mainly the extra day off.) However I have to call everyone's bluff on this - every single event I've been to that was on a holiday weekend had a whole bunch of people arriving thursday, friday, and some even on monday / tuesday - and about 95% of the people leave on sunday. By mid day at these events it is like a ghost town. (Insert visual of old west ghost town with tumbleweed blowing in the wind.) Come the holiday monday (be it Labor day or MLK) there is fricken no one there, so if no one is around on monday then it really isn't necessary.

I do 100% understand that many people like to use monday to unpack etc. but by placing the event on a non-holiday weekend you 100% avoid all holiday hell traffic which is a BIG bonus. However I would also contend that if you own ATVs I would be willing to bet you ride on non-holiday weekends and often spend a couple of evenings during the following week unpacking so it isn't pushing anyone to do something they've not done before. As for the people who have kids - I've not seen any of you guys stay till Monday in any past events either. (I know someone has, and we'll find out who shortly but 99% of you have not.)
