Default Can-Am 450...

I was wondering what you, the Bombardier-BRP-Can-AM faithful, and even those that are interested in any 450 class machine, what do you want in your Can-Am 450?

Now lets try to be realistic:

Motor Type?
Intake Type?
Frame Material?
Suspension Setup?
Shocks?
Dimensions?
Tire Size...etc.

You get the drift, put what you want, then we can see how much of what we all want makes it into production.

And remember....I AM THE CHAMPION!!!

High RPM Fuel Injected with lots of room for a stroker crank, Aluminum Frame, MX bike that is competittive with the YFZ

What rcoop said plus rider ergonimics. Bought the DS 'cause I fit on it well (all 270lbs of me). I would love to see a bike a little larger than the yfz, but smaller than the DS. Could probably keep it fairly lightweight with the aluminum frame.

Bottom line is that it MUST be faster and better built then the yfz if it's going to make it.

If you're going to take business from the Big Boys (Honda, Yamaha, Suz. and now Kawi) you better be faster and offer more features that the others don't OR separate yourself from the others for some reason. I'ld love to see a twin cylinder 450. A twin 450 could put out much more power than the single 450's. I'ld sacrafice weight for more power. Maybe this is the difference Bomb could take to separate themselves. May not

Fuel Injection is a MUST - Suz is out with it already and Honda and Yamaha are sure to follow next year. In the next couple years you won't see carbs on these bikes.

Honestly, I don't know what they could do to get my business on a 450 class bike. Comfort and power may win in this class for Bomb.

So, if that takes an all alum. frame, special shock / suspension set-up, etc. so be it.

They'll all be following suit from Kawasaki when their 450 is out.

One more thing.... Oil that you can change without making a frickin' mess everywhere or having some rocket scientist setup to do it cleanly!!!!!! Well, it's not quite that bad, but still a pain.

If they go v-twin they should do a longer travel banshee like frame. Go after the dune market since it is wide open with shee gone and ds unknown future. Make it high rpm and light so its not in competition with the kx700.

Yes rcoop, if they go with the Aprilla 450, that would be the exact demographic they would be targeting....That said, I can't see it happening if they are serious about GNC and WPSA, because the motor is too peaky and needs revs to make power....I never saw a Banshee do well in MX....I have made my peace on the 450 twin.

Lets be honest most quads never see a track and if they are serious there not stock anyway, so lets see one come out as a better everyday rider than can be modded to be a great track quad.

1) FI = I think this is a given and wont see many new quads built without it

2) Reverse = I think more want it than dont

3) A suspention with enough adjustments to make it more plush for someone thats not going to ride a track

4) Comfortable = needs a good seat

5) more torque and less high revving as other 450's

6) better tires ( quit worring about listing a slightly lesser weight and charge a extra $100 and put some decent tires on it)

Something with this set-up would make me look at a 450 but probally wouldnt sell many units lol
