windmill, the skids are easy to install if you winch the quad up and set it on it's rear. Keep pushing the rear wheels forward until the winch line is vertical before you get in front of it, then if you have a drill, bits and a set of hex wrenches for the middle plate, you're in business.
I totally recommend you setup to winch the quad up, cause it's way easier to lube and change fluids in the 2 differentials and the gear box if it's up in the air for removal of the skids. I have taken the middle skid plates off and reinstalled 3 times now in order to do maintenance. Need to remove skid plate to reinstall plow mount also. None of the above is a big deal. You will need a tube of anti-seize for the middle skid bolts.

brp also makes skids and a-arm guards. I think I paid about 300 for the set. I wish they covered a little more of the footrest though. I don't know if the riccochet do a better job or not. But I did manage to put a couple nice dings in the frame. So much for 12 inches of ground clearance. My Rincon had 10 inches of ground clearance, a softer suspension and 5200 miles and the skidplates were in better shape than my outties at 230 miles. This thing always bottoms out.
