Default Outty 800 top speed 70 MPH--Why?

I have 8 hours on my machine and a stock King Quad out did my machine on top end. He can't touch me out of corners but on the straights he can out run me. Seemed like there is a rev limiter or something. Possibly the way the dealer set it up, gearing?

The King Quad has a timing retard/defueling feature built into the ECM up to 2000 RPM but on top end the King Quad will run with anything curently on the market.

I think you should have your machined checked out. It should not serge or be hitting the rev limmiter at 70mph. I do not know of any others that are doing that. I do know there are several different limp modes that can cause a reduction in you rev limmiter all different amounts of limmiting RPMs dependent on the problem. If I had my book handy I would give you some examples but its at the shop. What RPM are you hitting when it starts kicking down?

your outty has a built in break in cycle in the computer, you will get a 5% increase after 10hrs and then another 15% after 20-25 hrs. this is your problem.

I believe I was in the 7000's. I am sure the machine actually was cutting out. My Outty has tremendous bottom end power, no prob there at all, that's the weird part.

Everyone else says there is no break in setting. How do you know this?

Mine got faster with over 100 miles. The rev limitor shouldn't affect you until over 8000 rpm.

I guess I just want to if there is anything to do with break in settings. Some one must know for sure if this is true or not. Also I guess I could have been doing more than 7000 rpms I was paying more attention to my speed jumping back and forth from 69 to 70.
