Will it shift into first with the motor off? Make sure your clutch is adjusted properly with enough slack in it. Are you sure you have the clutch plates in their proper order? Might be a shift fork problem but I would check all the obvious stuff first.

The neutral light could be a bad connection in the wiring. Check the wire connection on the right hand side of the sprocket. May also be a burned bulb.

im not to worried about the light unless the switch could be holding it from going in to gear

Let me understand this more clearly. with the bike off shifting down several times on the the lever it stops going down and gets hard? When its in that position is the bike in gear? If you pull up on the lever slightly until you hear it click does it go into neutral? Does it shift normally from second to fifth (all up). and from fifth down to second but wont go into first? Have you tried getting into 5th and downshifting through all gears to first. They will all be down shifts. If it gets to second and comes up hard trying to go down to first I would guess a shift fork or drum possibly. Someone will chime in here with more info Im sure

when you try to shift from neutral down the shift lever dont even move like its trying to go in gear
it shifts from 2nd to 5th easy and smooth.
i have tryed shifting from 5th down but itll stop at neutral like neutral s all the way to the bottom

What year is your bike? Sounds like a shift fork or something. That sucks if thats the case cause your going to have to split the cases.

Anyone else gotta an idea about this? Help a new brotha out.

BTW Welcome to the forums
