Did I grenade my clutch?
#1
Last weekend while out riding after missing a shift my neutral light stayed on even after shifting into gear. Later my son wrecked and I had to haul a$$ back to camp to get my truck and even know the DS was riding fine, I heard a rattling/grinding sound from underneath somewhere. Didn't pay attention because I was in a hurry, but now I need to check out the carnage....

Does the clutch still work? Meaning when you pull in the lever does the clutch engage allowing the bike to sit still. If so I would look into the sensor on the right side of the bike, you may just have bare spot in the wire rubbing, making the light come on.

Well first thing is the neutral light has stayed on before on my 05's it eventualy went out.And you say you rode the bike afterwards so im going to go out on a limb and say the clutch was working.so i would suspect a shift fork broken or maybe a clutck basket danaged take the cover off it is very easy to inspect.you could have shatterd a clutch set which i have done but man theeeen yooou reaaaaly mised and jammed a gear. it took me three oil changes to get rid of all the clutch parts that were left in mt engine.BY THE WAY HOWS YOUR SON DOING EXCUSS MY RUDENESS.

The boy is ok, had a scare because they had to CT scan his neck and back. Once cleared they just sent him home with some Tylenol 3. Fared alot better than the rest of the folks that were brought in from Dumont that weekend.
Thanks for the clutch info. I was still able to shift and it rode just fine, I figured the worst since the neutral light plus the mysterious rattle/grinding sound... will inspect it this weekend to see what I can find.
