Don't quote me but I think operating temp is between 185-200 degrees Farenheit. I think I read that somewhere

Hot as in warning light and fan coming on? No overflow out of the catch bottle? "Very black oil" should be changed if you ask me. I run mine hard and fast in the dunes and I never have black oil.
Search the threads for flushing the cooling system. Very simple task and prevents lots of future problems. Fan should kick on around 210 and off at 190.

assuming you changed the oil recently, does your oil smell like gas, or seem thin. and as far as running hot adjust the air screw, and is the fan working?

the air screw is crucial, , if it ran good when it was warm out. raise the neddle one clip, and readjust the air screw, then find a long straight(slightly up hill is best) hold it wot in 5 th gear for as long as possible
then pull in the clutch and hit the kill switch. hold clutch in until the bike stops. pull the plug white, bigger main, black smaller. until it looks slightly brown.

your probably running a little lean, in the winter when its cold the air is denser so you get more air then in the summer, leaning you out a bit, but the t4 pipe you just added would also lean you out a bit if its flowing better. these things do run hot though its hard to tell if your too hot without a temp sensor
