What paddles for built DS650?
#53
Like I said earlier when I recomended 8 paddle Extremes.. my build is very much like yours.
With a stock steel arm I can not launch at max power in 2nd. Even if I get as far forward as possible the front will come over, and that is with 8 paddle.
With a +4 like Goodsound recommended I can launch in 2nd at full throttle just leaning over the bars. I weight 220 ready to ride.
All he is saying is you will not be able to put all your power to the sand at launch with a stock length swing arm.
Like all things in life there are trade offs with both. With a stock arm there are places you will have to back off the throttle as the front gets light. With the +4 you can keep the power on in more places. With a stock arm its easier to loft the font end over trail obstacles or pull wheelies. I like side hilling better with a stock arm. In the dirt a +4 made mine too hard to hook up and the front to heavy.
I have run both and since my DS is 75% trail, 25% sand and of the 25% sand maybe 2% is hill shooting I prefer a stock length for my riding, so that is what I run.

I am 260 with a Ron Woods build and a 48 Lectron,Barrett clutch and 60% springs and all the bells and whistles and my bike flat out hauls. Do I want more YES! 720 would be my next step. But first would come the swing arm. I run 22 8 paddle extremes and at the drags or the hill I have to catch up to those dam 450 and rappys because I have to let off the gas because my front end will flip me so they get me off the line. But to see them turn their heads as I pass them is very cool but some times I run out of drag or hill so it gets frustrating because I know I am faster. A swing arm is defiantly worth it. I don't know about 4" though I was thinking a 2" seeing to as most my riding is duning
as far as paddles for your build 22x10 8 paddle Extreme would be the only way to go.
You wont be disappointed, also, Ya Fullerton is the way to go.

+2 ds swingarm
kidsandquads73 aka K&Q Racing is also a really good one to check out for swingarms. He's a fellow DS guy and knows exactly what the DS needs when building this stuff.
