I just want to share my recent experience on my XT. About 2 weeks ago some friends and I went camping to the mountains (as we do once a month) and on this trip we had atv problems with some of them (polaris owners). I am the only one who has a Bombardier. Well one sporstman mod 2000 just melted the clutch so we had to tow it. Another Sportsman 500 tried to but started to bail out because of the clutch! So I was the only one left to the task. The way back was uphill for about 10 miles and the Traxter never even hesitated!! AWESOME POWER.

Also I wanted to know if any of you guys know about any aftermarket exhaust for the XT? I still have the backfiring problem as brand new. The dealer told me it was excess solder in the exhaust and that it would go away in about two tanks of gas. I have 900 miles on it and still backfires (not as much). The backfiring comes mainly when going downhill and brake with the motor. It backfires after going downhill sometime in hi revs to brake the atv. PLEASE, NEED HELP. The dealer also told it was a spring on the deccelarator of the throttle and change it but with no effect!

Any one up to the challenge???? Other than that the XT is a POWERHOUSE and love it.

rduran, Glad you like your XT, I'm getting my 2nd traxter (non-xt) this spring. I really like mine. The backfiring has drawn many responses on this web. Look down this lind for some of the reasons and what was done. I had mine checked and there was a recallable item bomb would fix/replace. Can't put my finger on it right now and it did not seem like a big issue so I told the dealer to just fix it next time. Mine backfires right when I turn it off then it seem to just "poof" or not a real backfire. I copied your post for my dealer but won't see him until spring, I know you'll find the answers before then. Anyway, where is Monterry TX??

Thanx Fishbone, Im still looking for the answer. Ive taken my traxter to the dealer twice because of this problem but with no effect. One of the problems is that my dealer is located where there are no hills much less mountains and my main problem is breaking with the engine when going down hill. Anyway, as to where is Monterrey, TX there is no Monterrey TX, the thing is that when registering there is no option for foreign countries, just US States so I put down TX (Texas) being that I only live 2 hours from the border. I live in Monterrey, MEXICO.

If you happen to find out anything about my backfiring problem I would really appreciate if you could let me know.

I always laugh when a new owner discovers the real power of his Traxter, Ive been working mine for 2 years pushing / pulling /hauling the micro sprints from the race tracks, also the thunder car class. To see the power when others dont have a chance with burning belts, screwed up chains, broken u-joints and over all low power-performance,it just makes me laugh reading how these wanna-bee utilities have all the excuses, claiming the most power, etc etc etc and moe BS BS.
I really do love it, some of these wanna-bees will wake up one day and see the light.
Tnx

I dont owne the traxter, but I think if I was going to get one of the work horse atv's it would be the Traxter.I believe in Bombardier products, and believe that they want to be #1 in all typs of moter powered machines. They also have just saved Jhonson and Evenrude from going under, and If any one can save these guys,Bombardier can, because they have the proof behind them.I also think that the Traxter is the best looking utility quad out there.

Just wanted to respond to the backfire problem. I have a 2001 traxter and it backfired for about the first 80 miles. When it was new i think it was just hot spots in the pipe but as it broke in the idle rose to almost 1500 rpm. I adjusted the idle back to spec and this cured it. I haven't had a backfire now for the last 200 miles. I'm hoping your dealer checked the idle speed and carefully checked the exhaust for any leaks as these seem to be the most common causes of backfires. Also we just got a new warranty bulletin but i don't have it with me. If it has anything to do with this i'll get back to you.
