Great Idea

For those of you that have your filter on your carb, do not remove the air box. You can plug the holes where the tube go and use it for a storage box. A frozen 1 liter bootle of water and put a few paper towels at the bottom for condensation and this make a improvement on the long hauls! Just a tip for this summer.

yep take your box to the hardware store and find pcv pipe end caps that fit, then paint and glue in place. or there's 50 other ways to plug the holes, it makes a good seal so you can carry about anything that'll fit in it.

I agree, it's very useful. When I did it I used some spare breather filters that happened to be the same size as the intake tubes and clamped them in place. If I hadn't already had these I probably would have used freeze plugs from a parts store. For the large snorkel opening I used a piece of plastic cut to the right shape and bolted it in. This makes a great sealed storage solution. I use it to carry extra tools, spare bolts/nuts, a 12v air compressor and a tire patch kit. It has been a life saver.
