I sent them an e-mail asking them to call me so we can talk about it. I hope we can "all just get along".

Thanks to everyone for the kind words regarding the site.

TheFasterTheBetter, thanks for the pictures, I'll add those and a couple of others online soon so that people can get a look at Sand Mountain and the local attractions.

Knutz, if you talk to Friends of Sand Mountain, and things go well, see about swapping links for the event, we'll add a link to their site from ours, and they'll add one to our site from theirs.

Does anyone think it would be a good idea to leave 10am - 12noon Saturday open for people to join in this event if they want to? if 2 hours is too long, maybe 1 hour?

Sorry about not updating the site tonight, I spent all day till 8:00pm installing the junk I spent till 9:30pm last night building. I hope this late night thing stops pretty soon, it's a little tiring.

Friends of Sand Mountain is having our 2nd annual Labor Day Weekend cleanup on Saturday of Labor Day weekend. It is in the morning, and only lasts two hours. Last year we had over 100 people involved, and had raffle prizes for participants. This year will be much bigger. Cleanup articles from last year can be found here: http://www.sandmountain-nv.org/Snitz...asp?FORUM_ID=5

I see no reason why both events cannot be held on the same weekend. With a little coordination, it could actually benefit both events. It would be great if you could block out 10-noon on Saturday to help out with the cleanup.

CORVA and American Sand Association were involved at our event last year, and they will be there again this year to help with the cleanup and signing up new members.

Friends of Sand Mountain website has more information & several pictures of Sand Mountain if you are interested. Our bulletin board is at: http://www.sandmountain-nv.org/Snitz/default.asp . I have posted a link to this thread under the events topic.

Can someone post this info on EG site for me? I still cannot log in there.

If you need help with the permit, please let me know and I can talk with BLM about it. Our cleanup does not need a permit.

CrowleyOffroad,
Thanks for your input and info on Labor Day.
Our group was involved with the cleanup last year, looked like a good turn out!
I noticed over Presidents Day the trash was starting to pile up again
I saw your Motor home and trailer.. Nice rig!
We were the group running around with the red lifted golf cart.
I will e-mail you soon, to pic your brain a little about the Labor day weekend events

Also posted your message in EG
Jeff

Jeff,

I remember the golf cart. Nice.

Yes the trash was a bit much over President's weekend. I hauled a bag of burnt bottles down from the top. Why people think that is cool, I will never understand.

We are having a smaller cleanup on Easter weekend too if you are around.

Jon

Jon, I think most of us going to DS Days understand the importance of Dezert cleanup. Hopefully Jeff, Don, myself and a few others will get a schedule put together soon that would include the DS group to assist with cleanup days. I think it would go a long way for all of us involved.

Blackhawk: Get some sleep...hehe...we all understand this is a hobby for you and the misses...you 2 are doing a GREAT job...Thank You!!!
I think a late sign-up Saturday could be good and bad...I remember someone saying that last year that they had problems with some people trying to break up the group or something. I think if flyers have been posted and handed out...you should be on the roster. Are we giving raffle prizes and feeding everyone at Sand Mountain?? Just my .02

Don, have you been in contact with our friends at BLM?? Any luck?? I know the promoter that runs the Off-Road races up in that area...if we need some help, maybe he could get our foot in the door.

What does everyone think about "Events" for the weekend?? One big event per day? Drags & desert ride per day? How many people will have kids with atv's / motorcycles?

Hey guys~
Is there an award for the farthest traveled? I just have a stock DS, but would love to see the big boys in action. It's about 1900 miles one way for me, but would be one hell of a trip! Is it worth it to take a lifted Jeep Wrangler cross country? Sure would be one interesting and tiring trip!

I was thinking about an award like that, but how do we prove it? Is the honor system good enough?

have them bring all their gasoline reciepts from the places they stop for gas. Also the plates on their vehicles will be from the state they are from I think that award would be awesome. Wont be going to me though, only 210 miles away, hehe. Sean
