Im still having to think this one over. Im looking at 2000 miles each way. Around 42 hours. Myself and a couple of friends have been talking about making a trip to California possibly in the fall to ride Glamis. Im not sure I feel like making 2 of those long trips in one year.

What does everyone think about "Events" for the weekend?? One big event per day? Drags & desert ride per day? How many people will have kids with atv's / motorcycles? >>

I am not sure I will make the event, if I do, I will not bring the Wife and Daughter (too many crazy people on these big weekends usually scare me off.)

First, garbage pick-up would be a great thing to show our support and include ourselves on this.

Events (just brainstorming - not all ideas work for this group):
I suggest a number of events at different times so if some are off riding with family's they can make the next event. Events can be duplicated on Saturday and Sunday since everyone will not be able to make each event both days.

10 am. Parade in the Canyon: Meet at the upper part of the Canyon for a ride down the Canyon to the Windmill

11 am. Longest Traveled: Meet at the Plaques to find out who traveled the longest distance to get here.

Noon-2 - Fastest DS up Comp. Hill - Enjoy lunch while watching the competition fight it out roosting up Competition Hill. Classes for Stock, Mild Mods (pipe & Carb), etc.

3 pm. Superbowl shootout DS Style: Meet at the Superbowl

5 pm. Coctail hour at the Windmill (BYOB).

1/2 hour before sunset - Meet at the Plaques to watch the sunset and enjoy a night ride back to camp

9 pm. Light competition - Bring your well lit quad to the main street for judging on the most creative use of our electrical power (Style points win over candle power)

Hey barkbiterds I know Organ Doner would like to go, or you could stop by N.Indiana and pick me up. I can practice my "jerky boys" impressions so I can fit in with used guys.

Wow there have been a ton of posts since I was able to last check last night.

Mr Crowley, Thanks for that info. I am sure that between you and Knutz, Jeff, ect, all will be well.

Racerdude, I would think as for feeding everybody, noone would expect that. Maybe if some would volunteer to help bring some dishes that would compliment a main dish or something. As for the little ones I sure hope that as many come as possible. I would love to see some races with them on mini's.

East coast connection, Man I would love to see all you guys come for this occasion. It will be fun no doubt. One way to look at the drive is that there is alot of things to do and see along the way there and back. Just think of all the looks that you'd get if you had two or three vehicles with a buttload of DS's behind them headin down the interstate. It is definatly easier to go with a group and have a few drivers to be able to switch off. You'd be there before ya know it!!

Faster the better, good schedule ideas. I know that Knutz and a few others including myself want to hear as many suggestions as possible and then put them all together and figure out what all exactly to do. Then make a final schedule. I dont want to step on anyones toes on here so I dont mean to if I have. I do have alot of organization skills and have organized many big gatherings for one purpose or another in the past. Plus I big time have the fever. I am just saying that I am willing to get as involved as possible. I am sure that we are going to have to put together some kind of a organization committee to be able to put this all together. Once it is pretty much fully organized it will be much easier to get out and promote. I am volunteering to be a part of this committe if that sounds like the thing to do to others. Speak up all!!!

Here is a thought. Look at all the magazine potential for this thing. The cleanup can be an article, DS Days another. Photo shoots of the BAD A$$ DS's and others that are sure to be there. Magazines, are ya paying attention? Sand Sport, DirtWheels, Atv Action, Atv sport, ect.

barkbiterds,

Nevada does not have any registration requirements.

There are a few hotels in Fallon (25 miles from Sand Mountain). You might be able to get a group rate at Stockman's Holiday Inn Casino
Phone: (775) 423-2117. You could leave your quads in my camp locked up overnight if you want.

I just got off the phone with Don (Knutz). I think this will work out well for both of us.

We talked about coordinating a Poker Run that would be open to DS650 owners and cleanup participants. Maybe make a little extra $$$ to donate to a local Fallon charity that deals with helping the families of childhood luekemia patients. For those of you that don't know, Fallon has a very high rate of childhood luekemia. Might be a nice gesture from all of us.

That is a great idea. I was hoping that in some way or another something like that was going to come up.

I am all about raising money for childhood leukemia. I lost my 12yr old Neese two months ago to that Damn disease. It is EXTREMELY sad to loose a babygirl like her. Now I have another reason to go to Sand Mountain, A better reason.

Please let me know what I can do to help on this matter.

Sincerely: Biggerisbetter.

Crowlyoffroad{john} and I are very much on the same page on things, so it will work well for both of our groups.

The "cocktail hour" at the windmill will NOT happen. You all can do what you want, but I'm not going to support guys drinking and then riding.

Tenatively, this is what I'm looking at for a schedule, I'll take any feedback offered-

Sat, 8:00-9:00 A.M.- Show and Shine, show off your pretty DS befor it gets too dirty, easy to head strait over to-

Sat, 9:00-11:00 A.M.- Clean-up, DS Gathering members are encoraged to particapate

Sat, 12:00-2:00 P.M.- Time trials, One lap on a timed curcuit, tight corse that favors riders skill and chassis. This is something for the folks that aren't into drag racing. Fastest time wins one prize. Two laps with the closest times by in individual rider wins another prize, that rewards consistancy over speed.

Sat, 3:00- Group Picture! lets show the country that we were there in big numbers!

Sat, 3:30-7:00 P.M.- Poker run followed by the Clean up raffle prize presentation

Sat, 7:00-8:00 P.M.- DS sunset family ride

This gives the serious drag racers a day to get tuned to the conditions at Sand Mountain befor the drags on-

Sun, 10:00-1:00 P.M.- Flat Drags. 3 classes-Bolt ons, Mods, Power adders. as described in earlier post. A stock class can be added if enough show intrest. Single elimination ladder. Grudge races after completion if time allows, challenge the guy you didn't get to line up against in the ladder.

Sun, 1:00-3:00 P.M.- BBQ lunch?

Sun, 3:00-6:00 P.M.- Hill Shooting. Same classes. Not on the classic "Comp Hill" though, too rough by then. We can find a different hill that will be fresher and not so whooped.

Sun, 6:30-7:30 P.M.- "Man Ride" trails, dunes, whatever the leader decides, but at a quicker pace than the family ride

Sun, 8:00-10:00 P.M.- Awards and wrap up party. You will have met most people by then, so you'll have more to joke about by then. LOL

Mon, 8:00-9:00 A.M.- Fairwell family morning ride.

I know alot of folks like to bail from big weekend on the early Monday morning, so this should be a sedate, low key ride.

Scheduling things tighter than this usually ends up with one event stepping on the other.

What do you folks think?
