I ride a 2001 ds 650 and lately it has been runnning kind of hot. so I got off and checked my radiator fluid and there wasnt any in the little tank. so i refilled it with radiator fluid and after 10 minutes of riding it was gone. so I refilled it and the same thing happened so I check inside the radiator and there wasnt much in it. and when I changed my engine oil it wasnt black like it should be (it should have been black cause I havent changed it in forever) instead it was thes caremel color like my radiator fluid was mixing in with my oil. Is this a bad thing and how would I get It fixed? all help is apreciated.

This problem you descibe could be a multitude of things(gaskets, cracks, seals) I haven't had any problems yet with my 02 Baja, but there has been some talk in this forum about H20 pump leaking out of the weep hole and also along the shaft into the crank case. If I were you I would have this fixed before I rode the bike any further. You first must find out how it is getting in, hopefully some who is more experiences with the internal workings of this perticular engine will pipe up and give you some advice, if not, order a shop manual and start looking through it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

You definatley have a bad Gasket somewhere in your motor! Do you get white smoke out of your exhaust? Yes you will hurt it if you keep riding it, so there will be no more of that until you can figure out where the leak is. I have yet to tear down one of these motors so I will let one of the other boys tell you where more specifically your leak may be from. If you see white smoke out the exhaust then you hav a blown head gasket. This usually is the number 1 place for problems like yours on any fourstroke motor. Good Luck.

I'm not sure but it sounds like you need to replace your water pump seals. The inner seal is probably letting coolant mix with your oil. I would check that first. Order at least the 2 replacment seals and o-ring that goes into the water pump housing. Go here for some good info and help. Some of us have changed the seals recently. Water pump seals reference...
