AZSAND,
As I recall your initial comment was "add a tooth up front drop one out back and run 23" tall tire and you will be amazed.it wont have the fastest take off but your top end will pass 115 no problem."
Sorry if it seemed I was busting your *****. However, I didn't want people to believe that with a simple gear change a quad will churn 100+ mph.
I run into tons of people who think (by feel) ATVs are much faster than they really are. Prime example...first time out with my DS (when they were 1st released) a guy comes up to me and asks "Does that thing do 120mph like they say?" Comments like that are completely asinine and make us all dumber for having listened to them.

mean650,
I'm not sure what relevency this has. I'm going to go on a limb and assume by me telling you what I've owned that it somehow justifies what I know about ATVs.
I gave all of you a by the books explanation and it seems no one can come up with a reasonable argument to counter. The comment made was something to the effect of "just change gearing and 115 easy". Either reclarify the point or come up with an intelligent rebutal to my argument.
The frontal surface area of a DS including average size rider is easily 4 square feet. Try holding a 2' x 2' piece of plywood out the window of a car traveling 100mph because that's what your DS is trying to do.
