Does anyone else with the Baja have damamge from the handguards on their gas tank cover?? It happened to mine when you turn sharply, the bolt that holds the hand guards to the handlebars stick out too far and jam into the gas tank cover. Looks pretty nasty, and it also looks like Bombardier didn't do any testing when they decided to put those on.Like the just thought it was a good idea and didn't try it out in real life?!?!?! Or am I the only one this happens to? Let me know.

2002 Baja DS650, modified end cap

 

Mine never hit, but I ended up taking them off when I installed my renthal bars with a twist throttle.

 

My bolts hit a few times on tight turns,
Just twist the clamp and tighten the bolts.. worked for me.

 

Mine hits and it dented my tank on both sides pretty good.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

 

OK, so at least a few people have had this happen to them. I was thinking about calling Bombardier to try and get them to replace it, it looks nasty. There is no reason something the factory put on should be causing damage any place on the bike. Like I said before, I think they just threw them on the bike and said "that looks good, lets go with it." Without thinking about what it might do. We'll see what happens.
