I have some gear grind when I put it into 1st or more gear grind on 2nd. It not bad just a clunck. I just change the oil. The bike hasn't been run that much maybe 30-40 on this 2001. I thinking it just some clutch adjustment. I'm also thinking about getting the stronger springs. There was no metal on the magnet either. thanks IS the normal or is my idle too high etc.

Its either idle speed or clutch, as you suspected.
idle should be 1300-1400rpm, check with a tach, or by sound if you or somebody you know is experienced enough to tell by listening.
Check clutch free play - too much and it may not fully disingage, too little and it may not reingage. I like 1/4-3/8" freeplay.
