I'm really surprised that they didn't come right off after you took out the screw, When I put the twist on mine I took a razor knife right to it then I stoped after i found the plastic then finaly figgured it out, BTW Trail Tech has a billit fat bar clamp for the DS in stock now $100 for the clamp and their "X" bars

 

I have the Trail tech X bar's on my and they are awesome.

 

OK OK new bars it is... trail tech? how do I get a hold of them?

Rockey Mt. ATV carries all of Trail Tech's stuff, for the DS too now.
Or go to their site - trailtech.net I think it is....
