ok, im not trying to be an idiot here but what is the pluse going with a smaller front and bigger rear ? isnt that kinda cancelling out eachother. it almost seems that the DS has the power to go with a bigger front and keep the back stock. anyone have expieriance with that? thanx

Ok, if you raise your rear tire its like rasing your front sproket in teath or lowering your rear in teath..
If you keep stock sprockets and raise the rear tire size you loose power.
SO to compenstate teh 15/41 with 22 is the SAME gearing with 16/40 wiht 20 stocks.
This way you dont loose power when you change tires.
use this gearing calc to under stand it http://www.markynark.com/Calculator.html and the faster it goes the less power, the slower it goes the more power.. You notice that if I raise my tire size and only lower the front sproket to 15 I am still higher gearing the the stock. SO you increase the rear to lower gearing.
rule of thumb
bigger front less power more speed
smaller rear less power more speed
smaller front more power less speed
bigger rear more poewer less speed.

What Sprokets to buy?
i see now on my bike i went with 22 realtors and never changed the gearing .. i have been saying to my self for the past few weeks it feels like my ds isn,t pulling as hard in the uper gears .. umm very interesting .. so what fron sproket should i put on a 15 or a 14 ???
