What year was the DS all black. I am going to go stealth. I have seen a few all black DS650's and like them a lot. Also, if I were to powder coat some wheels. Would it be better to buy steel, aluminum or just do my stock BAJA wheels?

Yep, 2001, I just picked mine up from the dealer yesterday, installed my ceet flame graphics kit and got it all put together last night. Looks sweet.

 

That is exactly what I want to do. Can you send me some pics of that jewel?

 

I just got it on last night, no pics yet. Getting the dig camera for xmas. I didn't buy the fender flames, they were an addtional $36 plus I thought it might be overkill with the flames.

All the flames are on the nose piece and the seat. The flames are all over the nose piece and are on the leg pieces of the seat. The seat cover was a pain in the butt to put on. I put on the rear fender solid black and the front wheel fenders solid black. I have silver renthal bars on it with red grips. I've also got my wirelooms and hoses red. Then I painted the heat shield red. You can see pics of the hoses, etc. on my pic page.

I'll get pics up asap.

 

You can do what ever wheels you preffer. I powdercoated some douglass 190's. I did mine in a satin black because a buddy of mine did his in gloss and they looked terrible after a couple of rides. The shine started to go away and they looked all scratched up.

hey i painted rims before and id go with stock and just sand it down as much as possible and clear coat over the paitnt and it will be good
