Hey sandman have you put a stage kit on yet or is yours still stock if so how far did you go?

 

Yeah 6000 sounds pretty good,here in peoria IL. it's 6850 OTD i didn't think that was to bad but i'll trave to save money. Ive got one that is mostly stock, it has a woods cdi,15-42 gearing k&n 170 main jet and it runs real well oh and woods clutch springs , and my wife can out run most other machines, i don't think she has lost to a stock machine. this is dune riding. i got some parts in mine mark at www.ondunes.com can help you with those. i put cams piston valve springs, the head is ported the intake is ported, clutch springs,maybe some other things nothing major i still lose to bad boy banshees,

 

Well I am going to get a Predator too! But I am going to keep my Baja and do my own personal long-term shoot out! My son has a Raptor and there is no "winner" between the DS and the Raptor, they are different, each with it's own unique charactaristics. The Baja has all the improvements, and more, that I had put on my '01 DS. The Raptor has the obligitory wider axle and works front shocks, as well as a bunch of other goodies to get it into shape. I'd like my boy to get rid of the Raptor, since we won't be selling Yamahas any time soon, and ride a Z-400, which I expect will benefit greatly from wider A-arms and axle, and probably better front shocks too.
Rolling a DS? Okay, sure, why not? The Predator does have the lowest center of gravity in this game, BoyToy would be better off on a Predator, that is if he's rolling a DS multiple times. sheesh.
..I liked the Predator I rode,,a lot, but I don't know if it will be the desert sled that the Baja is. There is a certain quality to the DS, blasting down fireroads, sandwashes and mountain trails that I have not found anywhere else. The Predator will certainly be a better track machine, I believe it will outcorner and out jump a DS, but I think the DS will still reign supreme as the ultimate desert racer with its long travel suspension and Cadillac style.

 

Well I guess I have to wait for a shoot out I'll give it two months to see a DS650 vs. Raptor VS. Predator and then go buy one. Please keep us informed with your shoot out.
