Jacks & Sandable lifting devices
What does everyone use to lift their ATV off the ground in the sand & garage to do things like a tire change? Right now I'm considering buying one of the $20 two ton floor jacks from Harbor Freight, then building a wooden or metal 'sled' like bottom for it so it will move easily on the sand. Has anyone tried this or is there a better tool for lifting ATVs? I know Angry Baja Boy had a pretty decent jack, though I have no clue who made it.

hey blackhawk, her's an easy way i saw my friend put his paddles on in the garage, and i;m sure it would werk in the sand, he just put 2 jackstands under the rear axel and set it on top, u can ajust the height of course of the jackstands, sooooo, just use some arm power n lift it on there, maybe put some plywood under em if yer in the sand, n wrench away, for the front if yer puttin somethin else on, maybe just one stand under the center between the a arms would hold up the front end..... blah blah blah, it's cheap and i'm buzzin right now so it's my 2 cents..........peace....

i just take my small crafsman floor jack i set it right in the middle of the axle carrier and that that then up front in the middle of the a-arms it works very well, and then it also works great for the trailer tires, i use a snowmoblie trailer, so it's low , so the floor jack works great.

i went out and bought a atv jack, it works very well, when i use it it gets all 4 tires off the ground so i can take all the wheels off at once without having to lower one end to jack the other end up, it was about 70 dollors i think, ive never taken it to the sand, i dont see why it would have a problem working there, i normally change to the paddles before i go

I use a steel milk crate. Just pick up the front of the bike and push the crate under. if you get the crate far enough back it will balane and all 4 wheels will be airborne. I have a piece of plywood bolted to it so it won't sink. It's also good for storage in my 5th wheel.

I looked at buying one of the atv stands. Instead, I made my own.
I took some 2X6's (you could get by with 2X4's if concerned about weight) and made a 2'X2'X3' wooden "crate". I roll my bike back on the grab bar, put the stand under it, then pull it foward and up on the stand. It works well. I take it to races for swapping tires, working on the bike at chest height, etc. I use it in my shop for the same things. The only downfall is it is large and takes up some room. I have about $10 in it. You could put plywood on the bottom to keep it from sinking in the sand.
