Jet - I'm not dissin' diesels, I just don't need one. Yes, you might get most of the engine cost back at resale but the price of oil changes, diesel fuel itself, noise, smell, etc., aren't worth it to me. My truck will get out of its way when I pour fuel into it, I like that. If you use yours where a v10 wouldn't cut the mustard, you made the right choice. If you own a diesel because you think it's "cool", we don't use our trucks the same.

I also have a diesel 19mpg unloaded, 9mpg towing at 75mph. my only regret,didn't buy a 4x4.
as far as diesel sound goes - I have a stereo
diesel fuel cost - right now same as regular unleaded
smell - I don't smell a thing(although the guy behind me may smell it)comes in handy at times

ubetrun: I would like to see you pull 10,000lbs up a 7%grade at 65-70mph. Your v10 wouldnt get out of its own way then. How does 330hp and 700ft.lbs of torque sound? Ya, thats what i thought. Also oil changed dont cost anymore cuz you dont have the change the oil every 3000miles. Diesel fuel is actually CHEAPER than gasoline Listen to a diesel engine inside the cab pulling up a hill at 1800rpm, all you hear is the turbo whine. Then listen to a v10 huffing and puffing at 4000rpm. The diesel is quieter.

Dont know what it will help but maybe it will help a little, but my step dad is a diesel mechanic and about this tiem last year I blew the engine in my 1996 7.3 4x4, It was the powerstroke 7.3 and when we disassembled the block we found that a injector tip had fallen on top of the piston and caused the piston to wear prematurely. So we replaced that stock piston with a OEM replacement, and bought new glow plugs as well as new injectors and threw it all back together. Well when I filled up the next weekend and reset me trip gauge I did not know what to expect. I was getting 12-14 before and 8- 10 with a trailer. But afterwards I was getting 16-18 normal and 12-14 witha trailer. just thought I would throw in what I knew from personal experience, I doubt it helped but jsut thought I would let you know.

Yes AZ, I said it. Diesels are not as quick as gasoline engines. My truck will outrun a diesel as long as we have plenty of gas stations nearby:-)
Jet - If you want to argue diesel vs. V10, go to ford-truck.com. I don't pull anything over 7k, carry more than a ton at a time, or live in the Rockies. In my town, diesel is the same price as regular gas. Also, your truck uses twice as much oil as mine during an oil change and those numbers will add up if you run synthetic. I'm happy with my truck, you are happy with yours. If my manhood feels threatened, I can supercharge mine for a much less than you paid for the diesel option. BWAHAHA!!:-)
KMDuner - I gained a solid 1.5 mpg increase putting Amsoil synthetic in the transfer case and differentials.
Squid - My F250 Supercab 4x4 V10 has a 40 (39?) gallon gas tank. The short bed Superduty has a 30 gallon tank.
