Default Over Backwards!!!

Well, I finally got my 8 paddle extremes back from Skat-Trak and we went to Sandlake today. I had never ridden with paddles before, so it was quite an adjustment. On the first trip up Bowl 1, it stood straight up when I crested the bowl and left me on my butt. next time I leaned way out over the bars and it still stood up!! I managed to hit the rear brake and recover, but it was a little unnerving. I guess I need to let off a little when I get to the top of the bowl. These Extremes really grab! Later, I must have run over something, because I put a pretty good ding on the INSIDE bead of my LR wheel. By that time it was 4:30, so we headed back to the truck and loaded up.

I had raced against my buddies 250R (stroked to a 310) last weekend and yes I did BEAT HIM , so he brought a modified Banshee to ride today that he was considering buying. I couldn't beat the Banshee, but my bike is still stock, so this thing is not finished. He is buying it, so I will have to put some $$ into some mods for the DS.

All in all, it was a great day at the beach.

Overkill,
I know what you mean about the wheelies, there is a necessary re-learn (how to ride) when you go with Extremes.
Gone - are the roosts at the top of the dunes, the slide steering and the full throttle corner exits.
The trade off is the ability to kick serious a$$ up the hills and the worries of getting stuck and havng to lift 475 lbs out of its ruts are all gone. I havn't touched my v-paddles in the last 4 trips, now that I am used to the Extremes I have no use for them.
Once you get used to them, you will love em...if you don't already.
The rims on your Extremes, are they .060s? If they are that is why they dinged so easy. .060s dont last long on a DS, you need .090s imho

hey come on JS - you mean to say you don't miss the mega fun of the vee? i sure do. I like my haulers, but the things you mentioned being gone - like the razorback roosting, the sliding, etc. is really bumming me out. I gotta have both

You know I do... but I have to say these things to make me feel better.LOL
I definately have to get rid of the Trakkers though and get a good set of Vs .
I would like to be more in the middle of the traction game instead of at either extreme.

Skate II's - they are the best of all worlds! They are super sweet, and much more aggressive than Trakkers - I used to have those too, know what you mean! Edge is a very good tire too. Skate II's and Edges - the best vee choices for the DS for sure.

Yah I think I'll put a set on the want list somewhere between rear shock and front a-arms.
What sucks is this list just keeps growing and not enough checks next to the items

My rims are Douglas black label (160's?). I would have rather had .190's, but I got them on eBay and the deal was too good to pass up. I went from the stock Dominators to the Extremes, so that's why the big adjustment. I sure love the way they hook up though. Jose at TVI pounded out the wheel for me today, so I am back in action. Sandman430 suggested I switch to a 15-42 sprocket setup and roost on the Banshee Boy. Is there anything I can do to get a small performance gain without spending more hard earned cash? I'm thinking about taking the lid off the airbox and taking the muffler apart to see about making it less restrictive. I'm saving up for another quad (for my wife), so I don't want to spend any more than absolutely necessary.
