Default Camshaft timing??

Has anyone experimented with changing the intake timing? Someone told me that they advanced the intake by one tooth and gained five bike lengths on people he had raced the previous week! He said the bottom end seemed to be not as torquey though but it really woke up at the top end!!!! Anyone messed with this idea and if so does it really work that good or should I just leave my advance of to a CDI?

If he is saying that 1 tooth is alot and losing alot of low end then you could probably get a specially made cam sprocket to work for you. I'm sure people have been doing something like that.

I have ran advanced and retarded exhaust timing. Couldnt tell much difference. Now on the intake one tooth is about 11* of timing if I remember right. That will put the intake valve opening too early and in the cast of an overrev it wouldnt be pretty
