Lectron carbs... anyone?
#1
I'm getting mine airshipped to me on Thursday. However when I called Terrycable the first time about having a cable made for it they said they had one. When I called them again now they are telling me that they need my existing one and they will fab a new one off of it. I dont' want any downtime on my DS for crap like that. Anyone here has gotten thiers running with the stock throttle cable?
Also how did you like the power on yours? Is the thumb effort as easy as the stocker? Is there hesitation/flat spots on idle like the TM 45?
Thanks for any info anyone likes to share with me on this subject

Just getting a cable isn't going to work, you'll need to get a new throttle or modify yours. The stock throttle doesn't pull enough to open the carb. I ended up going with a twist from motion pro for about $45.00
When tuned right the lectron is a good carb, it doesn't have any flat spots like the TM45 and pulls hard. Adjusting these carbs are really easy. The thumb pull is really easy, no need to hit the gym for this carb.

KM... what do I have to modify on my stock throttle housing? I keep hearing I have to grind a section.. but I'm not really clear as to what to grind. Will I still need an aftermarket cable?

There is a little stopper built into the outside of the throttle housing, you'll need to shave that down. Then open the top of the throttle box and push the throttle, you'll see the wheel pushing up against the side of the housing, you'll need to grind into that so that it pulls\pushes more. I would think that your stock cable would work. If not let me know I've got my old one just laying around now.

I made my stock throttle housing and cable work. It lasted until we went riding in some really muddy conditions. Then, the hole in the side of the housing let the muddy/sandy water in the cable and the throttle was very hard to push. I ended up buying the HPD billet throttle and cable and now it works fine.
