i have the GBC sharkfins and they seem to work very well! they were like $20 bucks a tire, they are very light, i have no complaints, and they look better than the mohawks for 4x the price.... I WISH I HAD 22"ers i have 21's and they dont float as well as the taller tires.

 

Looked at the size of my GBC Dune Trackers and they are 22/8/10's. They will not fit with the fenders on. Had to take the fenders off. No big deal, they don't throw up any sand at all - Racing or just riding. Anybody else have that problem?

 

I have the 22x11x10-8 paddle Extremes and 22x11x10 Dunetrackers (no front fenders of course). They work great and Big Daddy is right, they don't throw up any sand. Good luck with your decision.

 

ok where was all this when i bought oh two sets of mohawks?[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] well they do throw a little sand on you when the sand is wet. i do think they are a little small for the ds, but they are a lot better than stock tires. plus you can run fenders with them. i just got a set of 23" smooth buffs so i'll let you know how those work on monday.

 

Yup. They rub with the fenders.

I found this out while riding it for the first time at night (didi't see they were hitting)
Good thing it was a short ride or I would have ended up with two flat tires out in the dunes at Glamis!

I have 22-11-10 extreem haulers w/ dune trackers 22-8-10 with the fenders on, no problem at all. I just bent the fender bracket 1/2 " inward at the very bottom. Dosn't rub or hit anything.

 

Like every thing else i like them smooth and shaved up front !!! you will be happy sandman when you power in to a dune cross the front tires and power up slide buddy slide.They dont yank you around as much they glide over every thing . they ain't cheap but they are worth it!!good luck[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

Ummm, I have bought tons of tires from Rocky mountian, and had no problems. Besides, Rocky mountain sells what ever tires the company gives them. They don't go into a big warehouse, and pick out all the bad tires to sell. Just bad luck, I guess. RM has the best prices around, I think.

Do the smooth buffs grab hard enough in the corners to carve a tight turn? I'm going to be riding in some relatively small dune areas, and according to what I've read on here the Extremes will already make turning a little tougher.

How about puncture resistance of the different makes of tires? There is some sage brush in the dunes back home, so maybe a little thicker rubber wouldn't be such bad thing?

I still think I'll get the GBC's because of the favorable reports on here and they still have a price advantage, but I want to make sure to explore as many options as possible.
