Default Kazuma LaCoste 110 Top speed problem

Hello all,

I have been riding my new Lacoste 110 for a few weeks now real easy to break it in. This past weekend I took it out to a farm to get on it a little bit. It handled my adult body pretty well even with the governor turned in about 2/3 of the way, my daughter and wife ride it mostly. One thing that sound strange to me was when I was going down a LONG straight away and I was maxing out in 3rd gear. The bike made a LOUD "winding noise" when I was approaching or at top speed. Almost like a belt began to slip all the sudden or the motor jumped into neutral and then "redlined" only higher in pitch. That's what it "sounded" like. When I let off the throttle the bike slowed down and the noise went away. I did it again just to make sure it was consistant. I never heard it when I was hitting high rpm's in lower gears.
Is this the top speed limiter making that noise ? It was very loud, almost scary. Once I slowed down it was business as usual.

Thanks for the help,
KT

I can tell you that ALL the 110 clones make this noise. They say it will go away with time . My son has had his for almost a year now and it still makes the noise but not as bad. You need to make sure you changed all the fluids before riding it. It is an awful noise but still works great. They say it is a clearance issue in a bearing or gear as it gets hot and will wear in eventually. It will get better.

Thanks for responding 2manytoys. I was beginning to think I was the only one to experience this. I did change the engine oil before riding. I don't believe there was any other fluids to change. Is that correct ?
Also while we have shared the same experience I would likt to ask you if your "awful noise" was only at top speed like mine ?
Everything at lower speeds works great. In fact the engine runs extremely quite, to my surprise.

Thanks again,
KT

Yes top speed, wound out while hot. You slow down and it goes away. Slower speeds it does not happen till you pretty much max out on top. All the 110's do it. Other than that it is quiet as can be and runs great.
