smb05--
thats a great looking machine. i plan on getting my 13 yr old son the vx-200 as soon as i get some qoutes back from raceway. how do you like your 150? pros/cons? looks like the front shocks have progressive springs now--are they stock? if so--how's the ride? nice pipe mod as well--can you feel the difference after putting a pipe on it? did you have to jet it after the pipe and air cleaner addition? sorry for all the questions--to be honest, im really excited about this upcoming purchase. again--nice quad bro.

groundsupport,
My 150 has so far been a good little quad. No real problems yet. My only major concern right now is where they placed the reverse gear on the quad. That is for the 150's and 200's. Now the suspension on mine is not adjustable. But the Quad does ride fairly nice. The shocks are not real stiff like some of the Kazuma's were. Also the rear shock is placed on about a 40 degree angle which gives my quad a 5 inch travel at the rear. With the pipe mod that I did, I did not have to rejet but when I added the air filter mod the rejet was required. Had to change the pilot, main, and richen up on the needle. Now with my quad I had to shim my needle because it did not come will the needle that has the slots cut into it.
We do not beat this quad up very much because it is my daughters and she gets mad when we use and abuse her toy's. But if some of the other readers here will respond they can give you good input on theirs and how theirs are holding up. Some even have both the 150 and 200 and they can give you a better feel on what to buy because they own both of them.
The VX-200 you are looking at will have good power for your 13 year old. But before you buy him the quad ask yourself a few questions before you pull that trigger.
What type of riding will you guys be doing?
Will he be jumping the quad?
Do guys ride ba!!s out wherever you ride?
Will it handle the abuse?
What is his skill level right now? Does he learn quick?
How aggressive is your son or is he a little timid?
How soon do you think he will out grow the quad?
Now here's the thing. I'm going to be honest with you, and I know a lot of people will disagree with me. So here it goes. I would never buy my 13 year old one of these Chinese quads as a permanent quad/bike. Here's why. He started riding two years ago on a CRF 150. Now if I put him on a Chinese 125 or 150 it would not have lasted a month. We went riding every chance we got. And the people we rode with would ride ba!!s out everywhere. Now with in a year of doing this he started riding a YZ125. Big step in power. There are times when the dads will even let the kids/teens take out the bigger bikes and they handle them just like their 125's. So the thing to ask yourself is what type of riding will you be doing. If you think he will be a mellow rider than fine, get the VX-200, but if you think he is going to be an aggressive rider buy him something else other than the Chinese quad. I know people will have their opinions on what they think you should put him on. But take the time to read every post and learn from them. If you ride yourself ask yourself these questions. Also talk to other people that you may ride with, see what they have to say.
I know your excited to get him the quad this instant, but take your time and make it the best experience of his and your lives. Put him on the right quad. Remember this is your son, make sure he will be safe on whatever he is riding so that he will continue to ride with you the rest of your lives.
Good luck.
I hope I did not discourage you in any way but please take your time to find out as much information as you can.
Sorry so winded.

sb,
you are absolutely correct in the things you said. One needs to determine what the quad will be used for, if it will be abused or not, will it hold up, etc. for my purposes and after about six months of researching things--i believe this knock-off machine to be my best bang for the buck. since my son is brand new to atv's--this will be a good one to learn on. and if his love for riding and ability grows--ill upgrade to a more appropriate atv and pass this one down to one of the kids in my extended family. thanks for the reply bro--keep everyone updated on how the 150 holds up.
