Hi I live in connecticut and am going to buy a quad for myself. I do not know what to buy, a good used quad from a major company honda, suzuki etc.... Or do I buy the jetmoto 250 brand new and 1/3 the price? I live in an area where I do not go quadding alot. My son is 7 and we will be doing more and more as he gets older. we ride trails and 4 acres of my cousins back yard.I bought my son a redcat 3 years ago and is still great. though it is still hard to start up in the cold. I do not want to spend 7 grand on a new one, but I know what you buy is what you get also. This christmas because my son is groing like a weed I bought a bigger one from bmx imports and I am not crazy about it.The chain falls off no matter how tight I get it and I need to jump start it evry time we start it. Royal pain in the but. I did manage to get a 2003 125 for my son later, it is a steal and it is a yamaha. He is not riding it yet of course but is riding the chinese one from bmx imports out of texas and it is falling apart. we will still use it though for a beat on muddy quad. I am a little afraid to spend 2 thousand for a chinese adult version and maybe some of the exact things happen ,you know little bug things that I do not want. Iwas thinking about buying a used quad but would not know how it was treated. and Ido not want to spend 7, or 8 grand for a new one when Iwill ride it 20 weekends out of 52? I need your help and confidence in this decision on what I should do and any feed back on the jetmoto 250 reliability please. I am a big guy 6 ft 5 235 and was wondering if the jetmoto can handle me. I want it to start right up in the cold and no tire leaks and no bad electrical hookups. please ease my uncertanty! Thanks bob from connecticut

Cant really help you alot, but does the chain have tentioner on it.If not it may loosen as the shock compresses it enough to pop off.
What kind was it by the way?

If I were to get one for myself,I would go for a good used name brand,or just buy a brand new one.Depends on what kind you want though,a sporty one to go fast and jump or a utility to just putt around on,as to how much it is.I like the utility type.
If you aint gonna treat it too rough, the Jetmoto might be just as good.
It put a battery in my sons RedCat yesterday cuz the om done the same thing.Havent really tested it,but I'll let you know how it does over the weekend.I got it at Advance Auto Parts for $23.88.

Welcome to the forum godeep69! I am 6'4" and 230 lbs and the 250 had no trouble pulling me around and it was geared to high. I think you would be happy with your $2000.00 purchase. Jetmoto has worked very hard to eliminate the "china syndrome".

remember one thing no matter how good or bad jetmoto is ,it's still chinese has no or very little resale value. my opinio is look at the new polaris trailblazer (250) or the cam-an 250 you can pick eaither one of these for around 2900-3000 $ . these not only are more realible, large adult size, have good resale, and have plenty of power. chinese are good kids beginner quads for 4-12 year olds but for adults they're lacking,

Just wish some of the aftermarket companies would realize the potential for $$ in the Chinese market.

I have had zero problems with my 200 and at the Pismo trip last June. Yhe Jetmoto parts guy/tech guy's son was testing the rev limiter on every 200 that was there. I was sure he was going to blow one up. Some how it never happened. The 250 is based on the 200 engine so im expecting the same reliability from it.

Scooter, Jetmoto is making their own hop up parts.
