If you are going to the 14 tooth sprocket on your 250 here is a bit of advice. When you take the axle nuts off both sides to adjust the chain tension by turning the cam centric axle spacer. Make sure the bolt under the grease zerk is taken out. If not you will snap the aluminum spacer like glass. It hits the chain guard and binds it up.

I just got done putting the new sprocket in, cutting a link out of the chain and then I turned to adjusting the slack out of it. I moved the centric and then it got stiff. I pryed a little more and heard the CRACK! Looked down and the spacer had cracked. Man it sux too. I now have to order a new spacer from raceway and Jetmoto list them for$99.99! Looks like the 250 will sit until I get some funds built up. Figured I would chuck that warning out in case anyone out there forgets to remove it like I did.

I had the same problem you've had with mine, except I didn't break anything. I saw the bolt/nut combo hitting the swingarm. The fix I'm going to do while I have the swingarm off is to grind a slot farther back to allow me to rotate the tensioner a little further with the nut and bolt still in place.

You're caught with either the chain is too long, or if you remove a link it is too short.

BTW, nice XJ!

Nope, I have spent alot of time on JeepForum.com though. I learned alot from thse guys, and MADXJ.

I have kind of a bad taste in my mouth with NAXJA. I posted up there once, and was jumped on like you wouldn't believe. Some there think they know it all...and they don't. I had heard that about NAXJA, and I have experienced it first hand.

I didn't have that problem because I had ridden for a couple weeks with the 15t and had stretched the chain so mine was not so short when I finally removed a link! Others may want to ride a few with the 17 or 15t to avoid this problem!

Yes, that is the bolt they are talking about. I put a 14 tooth on it as soon as I got it basically. I cut off a link, and removed the bolt until the chain stretched enough to put it back in. I put a think layer of teflon around the bolt so I wouldn't have to put threadlock on it (because I can't use the jam nut.) An allen head plug would have been a much better solution to this. The chain is still tight, but the tentioner is pressing into it a good bit, and it hasn't been acting funny.

I took the quad out today, and DAMN! It's running a tad rich, but it's freaking awsome. I had no problems at all today, and it's an absolute blast to ride. I'm thinking about doing something with the suspension. I've been running 5psi, and I'm going down to 4 psi (or maybe 3.5 psi) before I think about it more seriously. I really dig the ride. The ride height got me into some trouble today, but I was climbing something I new I wouldn't clear to begin with. This thing has some JUICE too. 2nd gear is a blast, and I have a 110 main jet coming to play with (my fuel screw is 1.5 turns out right now). I'm going to do a top speed run on a new plug with 1 turn out on the fuel screw and a 110 jet and see what happens.

pimpsmurf, The main jet is the only jet/adjustment that will be involved on a full throttle plug check. The fuel screw basically has a effect on idle to about 1/4 throttle.

Thanks for the info man! The plug we pulled at the powersports place today was with me just riding around, so it's wasn't really relevent. I'm planning to do the method outlined here http://forums.atvconnection.com/mess...00&startpage=1

Hopefully I can get her running just right. I've been running without headlights, and she has been starting up with no problems. I'm going to give it another day to make sure the battery is fully charged before I try running with lights again. I don't want to push start if I don't have to =)
