Gear Box Oil
Hi Guys,
I took my kazuma falcon 250 out for a good ride yesterday, and this was the first long one it has seen, but midway through the ride, I started to try and keep up with my dads CanAm 500, and his buddys 350 Raptor, So as you can guess I was on the throttle quite abit for about 5 minutes, but then we could smell oil burning and my dads buddy told me to shut her off. It semmed as though the gearbox vent was dripping oil and landing on the muffler, so we rerouted the vent hose so it was no longer dripping on the muffler and let it cool down for 10 minutes.
I bought this quad used, and the guy had to replace the gear for reverse, as he chewed it up not shifting all the way, so I am thinking that he may have filled it with to much oil, and then yesterday it got so hot that it had presurized, so thats why it was coming out the vent hose.
Hope I got everything written down right with the proper terms. I'm new to this whole working on things with Engines, As I am usually fixing my downhill bike.
So my questions is should I drain the gerabox oil and replace it? If so what oil do I need to pick up, and how much oil does it take?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
