stock muffler
#1
i have a 250 cc with the stock muffler, one guy told me that changing the muffler will get me 25% more horse power(i can't see that maybe 1 or 2 tops) while this other guy said just remove the muffler and poke a few holes threw it and that will make it louder and give extra horse power. so whats every ones input on those two choices??........thanks

Some stock mufflers are very restricted, you could see a pretty good increase with a muffler/jetting/air filter or air box mods. For starters, you could check and see if there is a removeable baffle in the stock muffler,if it is really small, you could drill some holes in it or just remove it, but it may get a bit barky, then check your plug to see if it needs rejetting. If you can't find an aftermarket replacement, you may be able to use a universal type performance muffler, then adapt it to your head pipe, and exhaust shop could help with that.Depending on the motor, some brands like Eaton make a line of performance exhausts that will fit a lot of different off brand quads.

no screen on this one and i removed it and you can't see thru it. i think i'll maybe poke a few holes in it as my son wants his louder any..

The spark plug color will tell you if modding the muffler is making you lean or not. Black, too rich, tan or brown, just right, grayish or white, too lean.

just remove it and use a philips screw drive on mine it's just 1 hole on each end, my sons i used a flat screw driver and when i felt it go thru i swisted it making the holes (2) i think to big, he likes it. but i think mine sounds way better this way.
